Ian Riley’s former British Railways Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 ‘Black Five’ class locomotive number 45407 THE LANCASHIRE FUSILIER of Bury Motive Power Depot passes Bury South signal box 39 signal (platform 4 starting to down main) departing platform 4 at Bury Bolton Street railway station on the East Lancashire Railway with the 14:50 Rawtenstall to Heywood. Friday 6th April 2007
Note, 45407 was built by Sir W.G. Armstrong, Whitworth & Company (Engineers) Limited (works number 1462) at Scotswood works in 1937 to a London Midland & Scottish Railway Company design for the London Midland & Scottish Railway Company as number 5407. It was transferred to British Railways upon nationalisation of the railways on the 1st January 1948, being renumbered 45407 in week ending 20th November 1948. It was withdrawn Lostock Hall Motive Power Depot at end of steam train traction in August 1968, being purchased for preservation by David Davis. It was purchased by Paddy Smith in 1974 and was purchased by Ian Riley in 1997. It was named THE LANCASHIRE FUSILIER at Bury Bolton Street railway station on 13th November 2004, and was allocated the TOPS number 98507
