For Scavenger hunt 101 - #54 A Stamp. Thought it would be cool to take a shot of this stamp on the letter we get from Missionaries we support postmarked "Singapore". We don't see that one every day.

St Matthias, Burley, Leeds
By Perkin & Backhouse, 1853-54, a new parish church of the western suburb of Burley, carved out of Headingley township. Pevsner thought it 'a good, muscular High Victorian design'. Some fine late 19th Century glass in the south aisle chapel, possibly by Mayer & Co? The church has been otherwise entirely reordered and refurnished for evangelical worship.
West Pond, Parsonsfield, Maine.
At 1:54 A.M. October 16th the October Big Blow came roaring through Maine.
I was awakened by a high gust of wind that literally shook the whole house and caused limbs and acorns to shower onto our roof.
A few minutes later there was another gust of wind and a loud boom as a leader on our maple tree in the front yard broke off causing it to crash down through the power lines where it became tangled and suspended just above our Chevy Blazer, I thought for sure that it was crushed but the huge leader getting hung up in the power lines saved it.
The local fire chief and one of the volunteer firefighters showed up around 2:30 A.M. to check our well-being and let us know that just down the road from our house a utility pole had it's top sheared off and the lines where lying on the ground arching and burning wet leaves and pine needles causing a lot of smoke.
They had to return to that scene and stand by and stop any traffic from using the road at that point.
Obviously we lost power but with flashlights in hand we inspected the damage but really could not tell the extent until it got light around 5:30 A.M..
I took some photos of the damage and clean up by the Lucas Tree Co. and CMP.
It's not everyday or night that a 30+ foot tree limb falls into your power lines right in front of your home and causes this kind of damage, unless you live in a hurricane prone area.
Our October Big Blow has been known to pack winds up to 76 mph and comes without fail every October and it did just that early this morning.

Plot 5: William Arnold (67) 24/5/1899 – ex Yorkshire Police Force – at Costley Home
Anglican divisions M and N are what is known as ‘Potters Fields’, they were used to bury some of the people whose families were unable to afford funeral costs, were institutionalised or unidentified at the time of burial. These plots were common graves with many having several individuals interred in each. They were narrower and closer together and, because they were not paid for, permanent grave markers were not permitted to be erected.
It is now no longer known where either Anglican Division M or N starts let alone the rows or individual plots which have now been protected by ghost gums, native trees & flax.
*plot details sourced through N.Z.S.G. N.Z. Cemetery Records & Family Search.

Palais Montenuovo (Strauchgasse)
In the place of the palais once there have been some smaller houses, among them also the one 'to heath shot (Heidenschuß)". With it, was the legend connected that the Turks during the First siege of Vienna in 1529 had dug a mine until below the basement of the house that only at the last moment could be discovered. Since this house with the name "Heath shot" but was already mentioned in 1365, the truthfulness of this saga is likely to be rather low. In the 15th century, the estate belonged to the mayor of Vienna Laurenz Haiden. 1566 Florian Grießkirchner as owner is named. From 1820 to 1850 the here standing house from the 16th century belonged to Barbara Geringer. 1851/52 erected in its place the architect Josef Winter for the Count and later Prince Wilhelm Albrecht Montenuovo today's Palais. The name of the prince goes back to his mother, Marie Louise. She was the daughter of Emperor Francis I and was married for political reasons with Napoleon I. After their separation, she had an affair with her lord chamberlain, Count Neipperg, whom she married in 1821 morganatically. The children from this union got the Italianized name of their father: Monte Nuovo = Neuberg = New Mountain. 1863 the prince rented a part of the palace to the recently created Anglo-Austrian Bank, which acquired the building in 1871 by purchase and had it converted to Bank palace. After the liquidation of the bank in 1938, the palace has been converted into an office and commercial building. In 1987, the building by the Austrian Control Bank, maintaining its offices here, was renovated completely and increased.
The palace has an elongated front in Strauchgasse and only a five-axis facade at heath shot (Heidenschuß). At the corner between the two streets is a replica of the old house sign (a Turk on horseback, brandishing a scimitar) attached. In rusticated base of the facade to Strauchgasse there are two arched portals, which have rich ornamental frames and are built over by balconies. The vertical structure of the upper floors is done by superimposed, fluted Corinthian columns. They also aggregate as well as the cornices each two floors. The inner courtyard by the Anglo-Austrian bank already has been provided with a glass roof and converted into a cash office. Today it serves as a so-called Reiter (Equestrian) hall for lectures and other events. At its rear wall stands the bronze equestrian statue of St. George, slaying the dragon. It was created in 1852 by Anton Dominik Fernkorn. It is an early work of the artist, which he created soon after his move to Vienna.
Location/Address: 1010 Vienna, Strauchgasse 1-3

[NOTE: This is a short video clip. My camera ran out of memory (storage) just after I started filming. After I deleted some older pictures from the memory card, I could continue taking pictures on this training run.]
We've been running about 1¼ (1.25) hours, and are about to leave the tony New Edinburgh neighbourhood of Ottawa. We've finished running in and around the even tonier neighbourhood of Rockliffe Park.

There's a site called postcrossing where people around the whole world exchange postcard. It's very interesting! That's a stamp from one of the postcards I've received. It's not colored like that, it's silver, but with the light it got like this. Very beautiful, don't you think?

A distant thunderhead cloud just to our south. Gotta love an unstable airmass aloft! Certainly, the Bay Area woke up to the sound of small hail pelting windows on Sunday morning, with scattered showers and a chance of thunderstorms possible throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. For us here in the South Bay, it was a good cloud-watching day with brief downpours as spotty cells drifted in from the northwest throughout much of the day. Gotta love this weather indeed! Pic taken from around San Jose, CA. (Sunday morning, February 5, 2023; 10:54 a.m.)
*Weather update: As of Saturday, 7 months into the 2022-23 rain season, San Francisco had received a full season’s worth of rainfall, according to meteorologists. A quarter of an inch that fell in the morning & early afternoon on Saturday put SF over the top by 2 p.m. It brought the total precip during the current rainfall season — July 1 to June 30 — up to 22.89 inches, according to meteorologist Jan Null of Golden Gate Weather Services! All this rain (and snow) so far this rainy season is really putting a dent to our drought at last. Much more rain was still needed to completely remove our drought here. Let's hope for more storms!
