Swift Response 21 is a linked exercise of DEFENDER-Europe 21, which involves special operations activities, air assaults, and live fire exercises in Estonia, Bulgaria, and Romania, demonstrating airborne interoperability among NATO allies and partners. DEFENDER-Europe 21 is a large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build readiness and interoperability between the U.S., NATO allies and partner militaries. Sgt. Maj. Steven Noonan, the 3rd Brigade Combat Team’s Operations Sergeant Major, became the 82nd Airborne Division’s newest Centurion after completing his 100th static-line parachute operation early Sept. 21, 2018 jumping onto Fort Bragg’s Sicily Drop Zone. Noonan has served in the 504th, 505th and 508th Parachute Infantry Regiments during his career and completed the nighttime combat jump with other members of the brigade to rehearse Assault Command Post operations.

A crowd of soldiers and veterans paid tribute posthumously to Maj. Gen. Charles J. Timmes during a wreath laying ceremony June 4. Colleville sur Mer | France | 04 Jun 2009: On the 6th June 1944 allied forces landed in Nazi-occupied France. 65 years after the D-Day landings in Normandy veterans have come to Normandy to celebrate and commemorate.
here: veteran William Tritt, 86, a native of Carlisle, Penn., wearing his original uniform from World WarII, holding the folded flag. Tritt was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division's 508th Infantry Regiment when he landed four miles northwest of Sainte Mere Eglise on D-Day.
