Giving the KDSS system a stretch today, going down a fire road that is quickly becoming a single track.
Not really rare but I thought it would deserve a page, though the picture came a bit out of focus.
I don't remember its plate but it is from the 1992-1995 range.
Spotted in Santander (Cantabria).
2002 Toyota 4Runner Sport with 109k miles. This vehicle is in great condition with only a few minor scratches in the paint. It runs flawlessly and has recently had the tires, brakes, radiator, and battery replaced.
I'm selling it to buy something cheaper and do some repairs on our house. Asking price is $11,500 - email me at detzelpretzel(at)gmail.com for more info. I'm located in Cincinnati.
Playing around with my MagLite and trying to light paint the 4Runner on a longer exposure. I need more practice.
Newer batches of U.S. sourced Matchbox vehicles are hitting Poundland stores which include the latest version of the 1985 Toyota 4Runner. A very popular casting with collectors, this latest grey version doesn't seem to have taken off with many even though I personally quite like it. Matchbox should have been the brand to carry off classic Japanese stuff like this but alas that appears to be the job of Hot Wheels these days!

Last week we welcomed the newest member of the SmerChen family. He's a 2002 4Runner Sport Edition, straight from the States. Yeah, it's big and we thought long and hard about buying an SUV when our consciences told us we should be getting a Smart car or something like that, but our lifestyle, with dogs and furniture, fishing and camping, etc said otherwise..

Went way out into the Cascades yesterday on a shoot and crossed this stream on the way.
It's not just Hot Wheels who get to produce good and original Japanese classic vehicles, Matchbox got a bite of the apple with their 1985 Toyota 4Runner. Thankfully this boxy but crisp casting makes a return for the 2015 line up plus it also gets a fairly sober and realistic colour scheme.
As ever, distribution remains a problem here in the U.K. but thankfully I managed to get a few from my local Morrisons who remain my only source of modern Matchbox models.

It was 20 years ago last Sunday (the 14th) when I bought this 4Runner new off the lot with only 8 miles on it.
Cars last a long time here in the rust free desert of Arizona.
Hot Wheels doesn't have the monopoly on older type Japanese vehicles thankfully as Matchbox usually have a couple up their sleeves. One of the most prolific of these castings is the 1985 Toyota 4Runner which has been seen in a variety of different colours and liveries over the years including this new 2016 blue version which can currently be found in 10 vehicle sets. The cheap matte grey grille is an obvious cost cutting exercise but overall this is still a nice chunky looking model which looks great in this new colour scheme. Mint and boxed.
