Bought my first Brand new Vehicle 2023 4Runner off road premium, Let the mods into a bug out/camping vehicle commence!! gonna have this one until I die is my prediction this day of 3/3/2023 :) haha

A very heavy handed approach to paint application on the latest recolour of the Matchbox 2018 Toyota 4Runner spoils an otherwise decent casting, low price point considered, which did look better on its first version even though I actually prefer this vibrant blue.

One of several found recently at various Action stores as part of a mammoth 2023 Case G haul.

so i found this pic in a random folder... it must have been there fro quite a while since the whole pic is all aged and shit...

i guess digital pics also age huh ?

:P

Unfortunately rather small which is something which now routinely affects many modern Matchbox and Hot Wheels castings though no complaints about its subject choice, finish and neat front and rear tampo detailing.

4Runner 2.7l 3rz turbo'ed, Volk TE37s, Stoptech 355, Sparco seats. Not your typical 4Runner :)

Latest changes to my 4Runner include new ProComp rims, Demello front off-road bumper, and Smittybilt XRC10 winch (synth line not yet spooled).

It could be possible that it's an imported Hilux...

My new 4Runner! The one that I'm not driving much these days! Yay! 😂 😭 💩

The 1985 Toyota 4Runner is the type of vehicle you would have expected to see in slightly modified form in the Hot Wheels line up such is their love for classic and near classic Japanese vehicles. The fact that Matchbox got the opportunity to do it some years ago ensured it looked factory fresh and reassuringly normal as can be seen here in this late 2015 recolour. Accurate 80's boxy styling with just the right amount of chrome detailing though naturally slight bits of cost cutting means the lost of tampo work to lights. I managed to get this from Poundland back in April 2016. Mint and boxed.

My wife with the 4Runner after she drove it on trails for 4 hours at BMRA.

Took the family out to Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area for a day of off-roading. I let my wife and son drive the trucks. I just shot photos, served as spotter and navigator, and provided emotional support when one of 'em was freaked about a trail difficulty.

I'd love to own an older late 80's 4runner like this. I think they just look so cool.

Added a 2 inch lift and replaced stock 17x7.5" wheels with American Racing Teflon 17x9" wheels with 1/2" negative offset and new 265/R65-17 tires. Makes for a great road package (quiet) while still able to do the 4WD thing.

Never this combination before. Toyota 4Runner low rider with a V8 engine swapped in.

Latest 2023 Case G recolour of the still very fresh Matchbox 2018 Toyota 4Runner. Finished in an authentic Toyota factory blue for me personally its actually better looking than its previous maroon release though both versions are quite impressive for a budget diecast.

The usual modern Matchbox cost cutting signs are evident such as the lack of metal door posts but when you remember how little they cost in many countries you can understand such sacrifices.

Hot Wheels have their long established Super Treasure Hunts to get adult collectors in a mad frenzy but only fairly recently has Matchbox get their own equivalent. Known officially as a Super Chase they differ from HW by not being available in every single case and so far are only offered in this lovely metallic Burnt Orange colour with black body accents.

The latest SC uses the 2018 Toyota 4Runner casting to great effect; it looks bold as well as nicely detailed on all four sides plus rides on better looking wheels with rubber tyres. Not especially premium in appearance or execution but gets the job done as a release to be hunted down by hungry collectors.
