Brand new Matchbox 2018 Toyota 4Runner which has been clearly put on a metal diet/designed to fit in standard packaging. The real vehicle is quite large but you certainly don't get that impression here!

The UK now has more official Matchbox retailers than it has for several years yet strangely they are all stuck in this strange loop of early 2023 batches! Nobody has gone past Case D and nobody has bothered to offer anything but basic singles and multi-packs. Add to the fact that many are now charging over 2.00 for them and its easy to see why sales appear to be stalling!

At least Poundland have the decency of only charging 1.50 for their stocks of Case B and D which is why I couldn't help grabbing another Toyota 4Runner, definitely still one of the more desirable castings from this mix.

This thing was so macho, it could induce puberty in a toddler.

Brand new casting by Matchbox of the 2018 Toyota 4Runner, pretty well cast and detailed as you'd expect from the brand as well as being stock in its execution.

Here's shot I took when I was out Wheelin' with my friend and fellow photographer, Darren "PoppaD" Stevenson. We were up off Pima and Dynamite following the powerlines and I parked at the top of this hill to take some pics.

I used Darren's Nikon D700 and SB-800/900 speedlights. Two SB-900s were on one stand, camera left, behind the truck. A single SB-800 was camera right to fillt he front end, and there was another on the ground to fill the front tire/suspension. Speedlights triggered via CLS, which gave me control over all of them from the camera (I had an SB-800 on it as trigger). I carefully balanced the ambient with the strobes and edited the shot in Lightroom.

Unfortunately rather small which is something which now routinely affects many modern Matchbox and Hot Wheels castings though no complaints about its subject choice, finish and neat front and rear tampo detailing.
