Alpha Company, BLT 1/4, 31st MEU conducts a boat raid in Thailand
Company A, BLT 1/4, 31st MEU, storms a beach in Thailand with Thai counterparts in order to eliminate hostile forces from a fishing village as part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2012. Cobra Gold 2012 demonstrates the resolve of the U.S. and participating nations to increase interoperability & promote security and peace throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The 31st MEU is the U.S. expeditionary force in readiness in the region.
On the 26th April 1986, Reactor # 4 carried out a series of tests which went disastrously wrong. 90 times as much radioactivity as was dropped on Hiroshima spewed out over the surrounding towns of Chernobyl and Pripyat. 630,000 people were eventually evacuated (not before they had time to be thoroughly exposed to the deadly mist) from the area.
It is difficult to accurately tell the number of deaths caused by the events at Chernobyl, as the Soviet-era cover-up made it difficult to track down victims. Lists were incomplete, and Soviet authorities later forbade doctors to cite "radiation" on death certificates. And anyway, if you had been resettled in a different part of the USSR, would you admit to being exposed to radioactivity? It would be a sure way to lose friends fast… Some guesstimates suggest that maybe as many as 600,000 people may have died as a result of radiation.

The Zuiko 28/3.5 is certainly not the fastest wide-angle lens in the Olympus catalogue but is a lens for the budget-minded photographers trying to build their Olympus lens kit. And that's what attracted me to the particular lens. While having only a maximum aperture of f/3.5, limiting the number of stops you have access the lens is free of any major distortion and remains sharp.
