I took this pic going north, about a third of the way between Eddie's Cove West and Barr'd Harbour. As we drove along Route 430, the landscape often changed. As we'd get closer to the ocean, the trees would get shorter and windblown, or would disappear completely, and then they'd come back as the highway moved further inland.

Today in the media, it's looking like Toronto is being braced for a potential 3-month lockdown of sorts. While that seems daunting, it won't be so bad if it allows our society to minimize the number of deaths. As of today, there have already been 37 COVID-19 deaths in Ontario.
I liken this situation to World War 2 (an idea I read somewhere else last week), in that the population as a whole has to hunker down and make do with less food, less freedom, and less certainty while the "soldiers" (in this case, healthcare workers, food-supply workers, etc.) face the dangers head-on every day, hoping to slow down the progress of the enemy.
We're lucky that the enemy is a virus, rather than a thinking entity. Hard as it's been to practice all these safety measures, the virus can only survive for so long outside of a host. If enough people act together to deprive the virus of new hosts, eventually the virus will have nowhere to replicate. But we have to be vigilant, until this crisis has been over long enough to be sure it's actually over. 2020 is going to be a hard year, but I hope as many of us as possible can get through it alive.

Juni 1973.
It still feels very unusual to see these in the North of the city and they don't half take the eye of passers-by in Canonmills and Trinity.

Serving as the successor onto the Challenge Stradale, the 430 Scuderia was unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. Aimed to compete with cars like the Porsche RS-models and the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, it is lighter (at 100 kg/220 lb) and more powerful (at 375.4 kW/503 bhp at 8500 rpm.) than the standard F430. Thus the weight-to-power ratio is reduced from 2.96 kg/hp to 2.5 kg/hp. In addition to the weight saving measures, the Scuderia semi-automatic transmission gains improved 'Superfast', known as 'Superfast2', software for faster 60 millisecond shift-times. A new traction control system combines the F1-Trac traction and stability control with the E-Diff electronic differential. The Ferrari 430 Scuderia does 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3.6 s, with a top speed of 199 miles per hour (320 km/h).

This was the scene in the heavens above Whitehorse this morning as the majority of nearby humanity slept blissfully in their warm beds, as clocks ticked their way towards 5 AM. I could have been hallucinating from the combined effects of sleep deprivation and hypothermia, but it seemed to me that the Northern Lights had morphed into several hungry looking dragon-like creatures situated near the zenith, ( the point directly overhead) , which were hurling rains of pink tipped electromagnetic spears down onto the Earth below ...
I recorded the shapes of a few of these celestial wraiths this night and will post their mug shots here as soon as I find some more time ...
