The cocktails of the month were quite good; the ones in the regular menu are very classic, and a bit boring.

Bill, Thomas, Darek & I visited VillageFest this evening. VillageFest is held in downtown Palm Springs every Thursday. It had been many years since Bill or Thomas had been there. We had an enjoyable time. OH...and I got to introduce them to Lumpia...a Philippine staple. Yuummmm
The 1941 Chevrolet AK Series pickup brought to the General Motors light-truck lineup a new sense of strength in design and engineering. Knowing their products might soon be rolling into World War II probably encouraged truckmakers to design stronger, more versatile new models for the early 1940s. One such was the 1941 Chevrolet commercial lineup.

My grandson loves this candy, so the last time I went shopping I spotted this 41oz bag and got it for him. And just like chocolate I am tempted to have some from time to time. But my resistance is strong, and the temptation passes.

I saw an attractive young lady (18 - 20 years old) working in a wine and olive oil store, and explained 100 Strangers. She seemed unsure and asked her mother who owned the store. Mom said that it would not be permitted because her daughter was entering a career in modeling and already had an agent. But, Sylvia went on to offer herself for a photo, so off we went.
Besides selling retail, she prepares a limited daily lunch with no fixed menu. So, my wife and I, along with another couple, ate there the next day. We were the only customers - it was like eating in someone's kitchen with personal service. We are now friends with Sylvia and will be back.
Thanks, Sylvia, for allowing me to photograph you for the 100 Strangers group.
About 2:00 pm, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster. I meant to line someone up with that dark stairway in the background (it goes up behind the Storey Institute to the garden). Two people came along with nice plaid scarves, and I asked if either of them would be willing to be photographed. He said he recognised me, and I was worried for a moment that I'd found someone who was not, in fact, a stranger, but it turns out he recognised me as someone who hangs around the city centre taking pictures. Like many people, he asked if I was from Lancaster (I have an American accent). He pointed out that the woman he was with had an even more colourful scarf, and she said she had given him this one. This picture is not neatly lined up as intended, but I like the off-centre composition better.
I gave them my card, but they went off before I could ask his name, or get some information about Lancaster as I have gotten from other people. I guess if I want a relaxed conversation, I should not set up on a crowded sidewalk on the way to the railway station.
