Clifton, Arizona, USA. Once a booming copper mining town but now mostly declining or already in decay and the majority of people and business have moved just up the road to Morenci. The Freeport McMoRan copper mine located in Morenci is one of the largest in the world
Cliff dwellings along the San Francisco and Gila Rivers are evidence of an advanced civilization that existed long before Caesar ruled Rome. Many specimens of pottery and stone implements are still to be found in these ancient dwelling places. In the mid-1500s, both Fray Marcos de Niza and Francisco Vasquez de Coronado passed through the area, following the San Pedro north to the Gila River. Geronimo was born in 1829 near the confluence of Eagle Creek and the San Francisco and Gila Rivers.
In 1856 the first mineral discoveries of the Morenci/Clifton area were found by California volunteers pursuing Apaches, and conflicts between the Apaches and advancing Anglo settlers touched off a 26-year-long war. Mining for gold and silver began in 1864, followed by copper in 1872, and the mine at Morenci quickly grew to become the largest copper producer in North America. Clifton's population ballooned from 600 in 1880 to 5000 by 1910, and it quickly earned its reputation as the wildest of the "Wild West" boomtowns. Neighboring Morenci was swallowed up by an open pit mine in the 1960s, but Clifton was preserved, and today Chase Creek Street is still graced with lovely Victorian-era buildings from the town's halcyon days as the place to quickly make and lose a fortune.
In 1983, Clifton survived two nearly fatal blows, first a nearly three-year-long strike that began on June 30, 1983. Then later that same year, on October 2, 1983, Tropical Storm Octave sent 90,900 cubic feet of water per second into the San Francisco River, which burst its banks, destroying 700 homes and heavily damaging 86 of the town's 126 businesses.
Tonight I reached for the black fibers again from LP Brushes. Orange gel and a small led panel used to nail this one.
Guessed head position and gave myself a liberal waft whilst trying to maintain a steady head.
My new camera is coming Monday so only a couple more to bag on my phone.
Happy days.
#41 climbs out of the Rock River Valley just west of Oregon in April 1995. This cut saw extensive work in 2008 with replacement of the rainbow bridge at Burlington Road, reopening this scene by eliminating the tree tunnel that had grown up. The trees, however, are now again reclaiming their air space.
Dave: Hey Eva, what's with the glasses?"
Eva: Just checking out this book. That is one good looking Brittany in there. Kind of reminds me of someone.
Dave: It should. It's you.
Eva: Really? That's awesome. How did that happen? The last book I wrote was a list of rules for Bruno to follow.
Dave: I've listed some of your photos as stock photos. The author bought one of them and put it in the book.
Eva: Well then I guess that in addition to being famous we're rich!
Dave: Not really. I think I got paid less than ten dollars.
Eva: Is that more or less than a box of Shreddies?
Dave: Enough for a couple of boxes. But I spent $24 on the book.
Eva: Oh. At least I can say that "Eva the Brittany is famous".
Dave: They listed your name as Lola in the book.
Eva: Damn. Can we still have some celebration Shreddies?

A funny thing happened when I went out to pick up carrot cake at McNally Robinson, our local book store and restaurant. Whenever I go to pick up dessert there I usually take a stroll through the photography session, thumbing through for some ideas and inspiration. I found this single copy of "fly dogs" there, a book full of pictures of dogs jumping. Thumbing through I noticed they listed the "top land speed" for many of the breeds, so I looked for a Brittany to see what they clock in at. When I did find a Brittany, it was Eva. I was shocked and chuffed to say the least. The photo credit in the back was indeed myself via Getty's images. I had to buy it. So financially I may have lost on the deal, but I don't care about that. I'm just pleased to have found the photo in the book.
The photo was from her 52 week project in 2014. The photos and a couple of pictures of the book are in the comments.

Decided to look for some more yellow today.
The flowering gorse provided a nice splash of colour on bright but chilly day.

Looking rather thoughtful as he listened to me chatting away - asking if he wanted a treat, or wanted to play with his ball, or wanted to carry on the walk. Haha, I was treading a fine line when I took this shot... Trying to be interesting enough that Flynn paid attention & kept his ears pricked up (rather than flicking them back, which is how he often carries them), but also trying not to be too exciting, as then Flynn would leap up & start bouncing around, squashing the bracken & yelling at me! Typical collie, Flynn can go from being absolutely still, intensely focused to a manic whirlwind in a split second & just the tone of your voice or a sudden movement can tip him over the edge ;-)

This chair was found on the beach and was waiting to be opened so it could watch the skim boarders skim around. He’s a skimmer and this was photographed during low tide at sunset, best time to ride the board.
