A few weeks back I washed the Suzuki TS50 that I imported from South Africa last years (and that I have owned from new in 1976). I noticed that one of the two disk holders was leaking and I decided to open them up to dry and preserve the disks inside. Much to my surprise, behind the two disks in the windows I found 21 Clearance Certificates, Insurance Tokens and CSIR entry permits ranging between 1978 and 1989. Treasure trove :-) The red CSIR disk was issued in 1980 and the blue one in 1983.

TwinTwist and TopSpin. Great update to really awful G1 figures.

Yeah, I needed a basic title, finally.

"Merge for the kill!" TFClub's answer to that missing combiner in your Classics collection, aka Hercules. This Devastator is the combined mode of six different Voyager sized Transformer action figures. Basically a dream come true.

Soligor was a brand used by Allied Impex for different imported products, notably on lenses of Miranda cameras which they were distributing in the US. Here is an early example of Soligor-branded lenses offered as 3rd-party options available for Pentax, Minolta, and Nikon mount. The auto-diaphragm lenses must be re-engineered for each different lens mount, and so there are fewer offerings than with Soligor pre-set lenses.

This is a tail prop. It’s an upgrade to the original black Blade mSR tail props which have a habit of bending out of shape and being less effective over time (they can be bent back). But as you can plainly see having a white upgraded 3rd party one that is more rigid prop means you can break it.

3rd party company MAKEToys first foray into combiners! Obviously an homage to G2 Devastator this guy is just pure awesome.

Another example of catchy advertising from Ponder & Best for their early chrome-nose VIvitar zoom.

Let me introduce my Zeikos ZE-NBG300. This unit parallels Nikon's MB-D10 in functionality, trails it on the build (it lacks magnesium and such), but exceeds the MB-D10 in overall bang-for-the-buck. Shipped to my door from Amazon, this unit cost me $82 and some change. Ontop of that purchase, I picked up 8 Ni-MH AA's rechargeables for $25. So for about $107, my D now has a portrait grip, more battery life and 8 frames per second.

The quick-and-dirty review gos like this:

Pros:

+Solid build; have read that the tripod screw is one single piece with the knob.

+Comes with EN-EL3 tray and AA (8, not 6 as indicated in literature)

+Great in-hand feel

+Front and Rear wheels feel about 85% as solid as the main wheels. AF-ON button and focus selector work perfectly.

+Camera recognizes it as MB-D10; reverse-engineering at its finest.

Cons:

-Grip material, while good, doesn't quite match the feel of the D's (it's awfully close though)

-Plastic frame; it feels dense enough, but there's a reason why this costs about a third of the MB-D10
