MMC Feral Rex Team members out on a mission.

(Picture by the late Mike Parker)

His original description from his photo stream: "PGE-- 6 pole pigs on 1 pole! Two different machine shops are sharing the same pole, each customer has their own 12.47 kV transformer bank."

Homage to the classic cover to Flash #123

Maketoys Green Giant (not Devastator's Constructicons) crew: Wheel Loader (back left), Bulldozer (front left), Mixer (center), Crane (back middle), Dump Truck (front right), Excavator (back right).

Awesome set with nice transformations, cool aesthetics, and good use of weaponry. Some have better articulation than others.

The 2 with the most limited articulation: 1. Dozer (knees and ankles) - I fixed them a bit, but still has balance some issues.

2. Wheel loader (shoulders) - but the rest has excellent range of movement.

Pros:

Aesthetics

Good size

Weaponry

Articulation and poseability

Color app is excellent

Cons:

Had to tighten joints on a few of them.

Limited articulation on the 2 mentioned.

Notes:

Diorama set on my bed (my g/f doesn't know..shhh). Grassy hill is a green blanket. Floor is fleece print. What's meant to be perceived as a distant snowy mountain (partially visible) is a bed cover.

This was the last image Mike Parker (MountainStatesPowerCo. here) uploaded to the Insulator Collectors On the Net photo gallery - a few weeks before he passed away in February 2012.

He pointed out that this was an older Tillamook People's Utility District pole that was about to be changed out along with its rusty old coop-style double-hanger transformer.

Anyway, rest in peace, fellow line geek. I'll always cherish all the SWAGs, WAGs, and discussion of the history of the electric utility industry - MSP, PP&L, NSP, OTP, MDU, etc... hope our paths cross again someday, my friend.

PE-DX-03 - Motobot - Warden

by Perfect Effect.

I slapped the cannon tank piece together without guidelines. As far as the character goes, all I know is that it's a tribute to IDW's Fort Max, a badass warden. I haven't read any comics with him in them, but I'd like to.

This figure is amazing from transformations, accessories, to paint apps, aesthetics, and poseability with tight joints. Perfect Effect has let me down in the past, but this beast is an incredible 180 that makes me look forward to what they come up with next.

I will get back to Lego I swear, I just need some modelling putty

Fansproject Causality: Car Crash (left) and T-Bone (right). These little bots are pretty fantastic, they both have good looking robot and alt car modes. Articulation is good, but I had to use my dremel to sand down the ankle joints to increase range of motion. And I tightened the hip joints.

On T-Bone..(odd name for a robot) I sanded down parts of the shoulders to increase range of motion.

Notes:

-This picture and idea was done before the Motoko image.

-Since they're tributes to Stunticons I wanted them to be in really cool and acrobatic poses suggesting they're hard targets to keep up with.

Dem Legends sized figures

I usually don't like to post photos that are not mine, but I've just noticed that this shot taken in September 1963 by Douglas Hume was taken from exactly the same spot as I took this one in 1972:

PS I've replaced the "cropped" photo with DH's original as it more closely "maps" onto my 1972 shot.

It's been a long hard road for Shafter...

Taken at the NordCon event in northern germany.

I've had the amazing opportunity to shoot the incredible Lacrima Steampunk at thiy years NordCon. A steampunk and cosplay model with stunning outfits, a vivid personality and so much fire. She did not hesitate one bit, when I asked he for a couple of shots - and it was a pleassure taking those. As a studied photographer and profound editorshe knew how to present herself. Edit by herself. I like it quite a lot.

Oh Sweet Christmas! These are just glorious!

This John Marston figure is absolutely fantastic

Today I woke up and decided to try hacking my iPod Touch. Rob at work had done it, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Long story short: mission accomplished! I even figured out how to rearrange the icons on my screen, even though i left the original ones just where they were. You can even switch out the bottom dock icons.

My iPod Touch is now an iPhone minus the phone part. So I've got all of the standard iPhone apps: google maps, weather and stock widgets, notes, Mail, and i've enabled the ability to add calendar events (two lines of code is all it took – adding events to the calendar was disabled for the Touch).

Thanks to the awesome world of hackers and 3rd party developers (you guys rock), i've got the NES emulator, Apollo instant messenger (serves msn, aim, a whole bunch of others), navizon GPS, sketches (like an etch-a-sketch, you even shake it to erase the image), and a whole bunch of other stuff. I am a huge apple fanboy, but i'll be damned if they don't understand that opening the iphone/touch is the way to go.

The only handicap this has is that all the web-enabled services are only useful if i'm on a wi-fi network. With the iphone you can access them through Edge anywhere as long as you've got cellular coverage.

Until the iphone comes to canada, this will do :)

and wow, photographing something that's backlit is quite a bitch, isn't it?

(Mike Parker photo)

This was a 1937 pickup that Mike had made up as a replica of a Mountain States Power service truck - right down to the green paint and a spare transformer in the back. I still have no idea what happened to Mike’s stuff after his passing.
