Let me introduce my Zeikos ZE-NBG300. This unit parallels Nikon's MB-D10 in functionality, trails it on the build (it lacks magnesium and such), but exceeds the MB-D10 in overall bang-for-the-buck. Shipped to my door from Amazon, this unit cost me $82 and some change. Ontop of that purchase, I picked up 8 Ni-MH AA's rechargeables for $25. So for about $107, my D now has a portrait grip, more battery life and 8 frames per second.
The quick-and-dirty review gos like this:
Pros:
+Solid build; have read that the tripod screw is one single piece with the knob.
+Comes with EN-EL3 tray and AA (8, not 6 as indicated in literature)
+Great in-hand feel
+Front and Rear wheels feel about 85% as solid as the main wheels. AF-ON button and focus selector work perfectly.
+Camera recognizes it as MB-D10; reverse-engineering at its finest.
Cons:
-Grip material, while good, doesn't quite match the feel of the D's (it's awfully close though)
-Plastic frame; it feels dense enough, but there's a reason why this costs about a third of the MB-D10

Not my picture... my family was in the area for a reunion, and at some point I was temporarily separated from my camera. Fortunately my cousin's daughter is a bit of a shutterbug herself and had a pretty decent camera, and happily took this picture for me.
This was one of the old expanded steel poles carrying the 22.9kV line from the city's powerhouse in the Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park down towards Loveland. The powerhouse was fed by a long pipeline from the city's dam further up the canyon. This segment of the transmission line had a 4160V circuit to serve the city's customers in this section of the canyon. The insulators on the pole in front are Locke "Toughtype" Hi-Tops, a replacement type that was used for a short time.
The dam and 1925 hydro plant were damaged in the 1976 Big Thompson flood and back online by 1978, only to be damaged again during the 2013 Front Range flood. The city realized the dam and hydro plant were too severely damaged to repair a second time, and decided to remove the dam and powerhouse. Along with that, a decision was made to rebuild and modernize the entire canyon system from the west side of town all the way to its end below Estes Park.
