I've made a sputnik-inspired windometer for the roof. It has a doorway and ladder, perhaps for birds or even small aliens. And a welcoming green light.

Also a little red flashing light because I've wanted one of those on the roof since I was a teenager.

First printing test of my BJD head. I printed it in the low quality at a high speed to check the head's size and construction. I decided to change some details in the 3d model. I want larger head with thinner cheekbones and jaw. Now I'm going to print the second test.

Back in January 09 we finally cracked a problem that has been plaguing up for years. Namely how do you export Inventor files into a format that Cinema 4D can understand? After a lot of failed attempts we finally discovered a very clever bit of software called PolyTrans by Okino. A carefully written bid to the right people allowed us to buy the software that allows us to make the most of both apps. Inventor is used for most of the 3D modelling, C4D is used for lighting, texture mapping and rendering.

We expect to see more exciting results over the course of this session.

We've just received our update to Cinema 4D. We have a educational licence that provides 25 seats and most pupils will remain on Release 10 of the software in the meantime. This update is for one seat only and takes us up to the latest version of the software, Release 11.5. R11.5 has several advantages over R10. First, it allows us to harness the power and convenience of the Engineering Add-on. Second, it is a lot faster. It operates in 64 bit, so we can access the full 5Gb of system RAM and render in four cores simultaneously. Third it comes with Pixar's Renderman engine, so the output quality is spectacular.
