The highlights of this kits are the massive 300x300x400mm (12x12 x15.75") build area, Linear rails on the X and Y movements. Dual Y and Z motors for added speed and power. This kit also includes an aluminum build surface/headed bed capable of printing many materials including PLA and ABS.

Printed on a Makerbot Replicator 2

Somebody printed Kylo Ren's saber!!! Awesome! #3dprint #3dprinting #future #technology #tech #innovate #starwars t.co/Ue2xD3SAWa via Twitter twitter.com/3DPrintMaster

Where do I begin? First skeinforge didn't like it when I made this without giving the walls any thickness. I gave it 2mm, which as soon as it started printing seemed too thick.

Plus, only then did I realize it was a 7 hour print... and I started at like 8pm. I tried to stay up, but couldn't. I ended up going to bed and using a timer to wake me up ever 45 minutes. I couldn't leave it any longer than that before the filament would get in a way.

Even then somehow the whole model shifted a mm or so... and the bottom started warping despite the heated platform (not nearly as much as otherwise, though).

The last straw, though, was that I was no longer able to sleep with the makerbot going. So reaching a height around 7mm, I stopped the print. It should be serviceable in the medicine cabinet, although the smaller chambers may be too small.

Oh, and all the activity seems to have broken the lead to the thermistor on the heated build platform. So looks like another repair is needed before my next print.
