"Kit" is a little bit of an overstatement. The RapMan comes as a large box of marginally-sorted bolts, assorted hardware, and several laser-cut sheets of plastic, packaged straight from the laser cutter. The build manuals are available online and pretty decent, but still require a large amount of imagination, patience, and common sense.

The bracket attaches to the Y motor piece. The white ring (a "Delrin" plastic nut) is threaded to match the threaded rod that will be attached to the Z motor. So as the Z motor turns, the threaded rod will turn, and this nut will climb up or down the rod, bringing the Y axis assembly and extruder with it.
The long screw at left ends up aligned with the Z end stop on the base. You thread it in or out to adjust when the Y/extruder assembly bottoms out, which is important for adjusting the gap between the extruder nozzle and the print bed.
