Didn't know what to take a picture of yesterday, so I stepped out on the porch during M's nap and took a picture of my braid with some rainy day bokeh in the background.
Can you keep a secret? The tooth fairy is coming tonight! My littlest guy lost his first tooth...it's my last first lost tooth. Sad really.
Today I had the apartment to myself, which doesn't happen very often. I decided to take the opportunity to blast music, sing my guts out and paint. I have been feeling like painting for days, but I have had little inspiration-then today out of no where I banged out 3 small paintings. Some days are better than others, which is why I keep pushing myself to be creative in SOME way every single day.

I had forgotten I planted this, and I think in previous years it had been swamped by self-sown forget-me-nots. This is the only flower - I'll have to hope that if I protect it it may spread a bit.
I look a bit suspicious of 39, don't I? Here's my (very) belated birthday photo. I'm starting another 52 weeks (39::52) but haven't edited any of them yet. October was a great but crazy month.
And 38 was definitely a year of growth, a little heartbreak and a lot of support and love from my people.
Bring it on, 39.

39 year old Joseph Nyabira in his home, in an area called 'Muslim' near Muslim Primary School, what he personally calls 'the slums' of Kawangware, a sprawling settlement on the west side of downtime Nairobi. He is married to 33 year old Divina and they have two sons Elijah, 8 and Daniel, 10. Joseph is battling with a 'heterogenous mass in the right anterior lateral mid thigh', a form of aggressive skin cancer. A small lump beginning in 2002 grew by February 2014 to a that showed from underneath his clothes. Chemists and doctors advised that he have it removed. Without a biopsy Joseph did so. The wound did not heal and began to bleed continuously. In excruciating pain he collapsed. Now diagnosed with skin cancer which has not yet gone to the bone Joseph has just undergone 2 weeks of radiotherapy, is on painkillers and is about to embark upon a recommended 6 sessions of chemotherapy. "It's better compared to a lot of other cancers," says Joseph, " the doctor tell me I will be all right".
