A trip to Bushy Park, Richmond at the end of September to photograph the start of the Deer Rut. Weather was just about perfect. As the mist burnt off the light gave a warm tone.

Week 39, Artistic water

HEY! PLEASE GO LIKE MY FACEBOOK PAGE, BY THE WAY!!

go ahead!

I apologize for my lack of creativity in this photo. I was at work when I took this, and I can assure you that this week has been simply crazy. I have been sleeping all day (when not working) and staying up all night. It was a nice week, yet my nerves are still uneasy. But, all gets better in time and I'm really excited to see what the future holds for me.

Today, I was really beating myself up over people and past events, and it hit me hard. That these people won't remember me in five years time. That these thoughts can get better. That there is so much to grow towards.

I would like to say thank you to my loved ones.

Alex is an incredible boyfriend, and I can't tell you where I would be without him now. He has provided me love and comfort when others have left. He has showed me what a true friend is and better yet, showed me what love can be. I can't say thank you enough.

Angela, you bring me happiness beyond words. I know things are crazy right now and you may feel as if the devil is riding your back, but God has his ways and I'm praying for you constantly. You are my best friend, and I can't wait to catch up and chat.

And to my few best friends, you all mean the world. I can't express that enough. I'm so happy for your comfort.

Sinead runs Straven B&B in Portobello, Edinburgh, with her husband, Chris. He welcomed us on our arrival and for the first couple of days of our stay I had only nodded hello to Sinead in passing. When I went down to breakfast on day three, camera in hand, just in case, there she was, about to make some toast.

There were no other guests in the dining room so I asked Sinead if she would like her portrait taken and I admit she did look a little startled.

So I gave a fuller explanation of my strangers' portraiture and Sinead was rather interested and asked me more about it.

As you see, Sinead did say yes. She and Chris have run the B&B for three years, taking the chance to carry on from her parents who were retiring from many years of managing Straven Guesthouse.

I learnt that prior to this move, Chris and Sinead worked in Glasgow, in youth addiction and managing social work projects respectively.

The difficulties in child care for their young son were becoming increasingly hard to manage and they were in a busy environment with a 4-lane road running past their flat.

In Portobello life is very calm and, with the sea just 50 yards down the road, their little boy can walk along the beach to school.

A slight burnt-toast smell brought us from our conversation and back to breakfast.

Thanks to Sinead for being in my Project - and I take full responsibility for the toast.

Here is Bear guarding my flowers. He thinks his job is to chase lizards and little ground squirrels. He will sit and stare at the flowers, lizard hole or pile of sticks waiting for lizard movement. Then the chase is on! He will dig in their burrows and try to get them. He knows he can’t catch the birds or bunnies and some day he may realize he can’t catch lizards either!

Bear is a Landseer New Foundland. He weighs about 150 pounds and he is the best companion and protector I could ever want. Once I stepped backwards and fell over a barrel cactus in the yard. By the time I opened my eyes, Bear was standing over me with his nose in my face. Last I recalled, he was inside laying on the kitchen floor. To this day, I don’t know how he knew I fell, but he was certainly there to help me get up. Whenever there is a stranger around he will stand between me and the person so that they cannot get near me. His ability to judge character is amazing. One time when we were camping he pressed against me sitting on my feet and holding me against a picnic table because he was not sure of the guy camping across from us. Bear is not aggressive, but he is possessive!

He is truly a treasure!
