still take crappy pictures though (Y)
plus, my bf is staying with me for the month, so I get awkward when I take pictures and my face clearly shows it.

It's been just about 20 years since I took this particular photo. On May 6, 2004 (which, like today, was also a Thursday), D&H local SC-1 with StL&H GP38-2 #7308 switches GE Silicones (now Momentive) in Waterford, NY. Today, SMS Rail Services does the switching here, while CPKC simply sets off and picks up blocks of cars. But, back during this time, CP's D&H still ran local SC-1 every day but Sunday (Gordy Smith can correct me if I'm wrong), and this was the main reason they ran this local. Back in 2004, this local also would have been responsible for switching Mohawk Paper in Cohoes.
During this time -- in addition to "The Gas Train" (symbolled 514/515 at the time) -- intermodal trains 168/169 still traversed the Colonie Main as well, so you could catch upwards of six trains in daylight on this line.
Today -- unless a loaded or empty ethanol or grain train gets thrown into the mix -- the Colonie Main only sees one train a day in daylight.
I didn't know how good I had it...

Manchester Ship Canal Railway Hudswell-Clark 0-6-0T 67, with ex-Lancashire and Yorkshire 0-4-0ST 51218 during the Roch Valley Railway Society / L.C.G.B. 'Mode Wheel Railtour' in October 1967. Mode Wheel was the MSC loco depot.
51218 had been withdrawn by BR in 1964, and preserved, and had hauled the first (unofficial..) train on the Keighlley and Worth Valley Railway, in June 1965. MSC 67 was preserved in 1969, at the Middleton Railway in Leeds.
Since January I have had an interest in photography and I am amazed at how quickly it has begun to rule my life. I just want to be amazing!
I'm trying to teach myself everything there is to know - I am glad that I now have a proper hobby - my first as an adult I think - and I hope it will continue to be for the rest of my life.
This is for FGR's group invasion : NERDS. Thank you to hlngre23 for her ideas on the theme!

Ryan is extremely awesome (hell yeah I am. I pushed her off the couch and typed this. #winning) and surprised me with a Lumix point and shoot for us to play with. It is everything proof and we are going to have so much fun with it.
I put the camera on a timer and swam above it a few times to get this, unfortunately, the pool was so heavily chlorinated that right now all of the words on this scree are completely blurred because I botched my eyes.
I am really excited to play with this some more with a model!
