Muster 5th August

A rare, twin-engine Sikorsky S-38 amphibious aircraft reproduction at 2012 Duxford Flying Legends. It won't be difficult to spot Thomas Schrade's aircraft, dubbed Osa's Ark for its definitive zebra paint scheme based on the S-38 filmmakers/authors Osa and Martin Johnson flew over Africa in the 1930s. The only S-38 aircraft flying in the world, Osa's Ark last appeared at AirVenture Oshkosh three years ago.

Igor Sikorsky's first flying boat design, the S-38's maiden flight was in 1928. It was called "The Explorer's Air Yacht" and "The Flying Yacht," and a total of 110 were produced and used by adventure seekers and fledging airline companies

1979 Porsche 930 Turbo

Chassis No. 9309800105

Ernst Fuhrmann adapted the turbo-technology originally developed for the 917/30 CAN-AM car to the 3.0 litre flat-six from the Carrera RS 3.0, and created what Porsche internally dubbed as 930. For the 1976 production year, a new model, called the "Turbo Carrera" was available (type 930, but officially titled "Turbo Carrera"). The car was a 911, but a very special one. It was turbocharged. This new model had the 3.0 liter engine, modified suspension, fender flares, and the most well-known trademark of all, the whaletail. It developed 234 hp and 246 lb-ft torque. It could go from 0-60 in 6.7 seconds, and cruise to 156 mph. The car was fast, powerful, and extremely tail-happy.

However, the 1976/77 Turbo Carrera was simply an intro to the "big" 930, of the 1978 model. In 2 years of further development, the car was upgraded into a 3.3 liter, intercooled, turbocharged monster that could go from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, and allow the speedo needle to soar past the 165 mark. The 930 was now just titled "Turbo" on the rear deck lid. Sadly, 1979 was the last year for the 930 in America. The 930 was discontinued in the US due mainly to emissions requirements.

With only 59,000 original miles, this Turbo remains in fantastic survivor condition. The entire interior is very much original, including the factory radio and working sunroof! The car has had a quality re-spray over the years, and shines quite well. All exterior rubber and plastic is solid and free of dry rot, including the tires. Mechanically the car is very strong, the engine pulls as it should, and the turbo spools up very nicely. A truly preserved example!

· Last year production 930!

· Only 59,000 original miles!

· A beautiful survivor!

Only: $35,250.00!!

Artist's cooperative, "P-38 Graphics", did this work with spray guns and big stencils. Seen here is Dennis Marks, me and Bob Shaw.

We must be working because Bob is wearing his respirator. I think we had been standing back to see the mural better; something we did continuously. Color is not balanced at this point.

( Honest, we are not posing. Frank just caught us looking like Vikings. We were probably too tired to do any marauding. )

The three of us met at work, custom painting motorcycles at the Fiberglas Works.

Ann did calligraphy with us from time to time, so she was in P-38 as well. We did alot of local work, mostly with airbrush.

Regarding orientation, you can see part of the peaked roof above the first panel. The wall was the north side of a building that is not there anymore. But the wall is still here.

P-38 Graphics was named after the legendary WWII fighter plane:

It was deployed in the Pacific campaign and played a key role to end the war in Europe.

Ap. 9, 07- Below is a new comment from Brazil !

I understand part of it: she says "esta lindo". That means something like, 'it is wonderful'.

Yahoo says that, ...."Parabens" is ... like "cheers," "congratulations," or "i'm happy for you." What fun.

Here is where the stove and beautiful copper sink will reside. The floor will be covered in large cork tiles.

This picture is #38 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

Strolling along at an outdoor art festival, I saw a petite young lady with a Nikon D700. Camera envy immediately set in. The camera and sack full of gear seemed nearly as large as she was. She sat on the ground, in the shade, eating lunch when I approached her. As a professional photographer, she was totally cool about being photographed for 100 Strangers. She pulled the camera to her face, and we didn't even have to stand up.

Casey is a lifestyle photojournalist. www.caseybrookephotography.com/ and was at the festival taking photos for a local newspaper.

Thank you, Casey, for allowing me to photograph you for the 100 Strangers group. Maybe someday you'll want to sell your D700...

Constructive criticism welcomed.
