38yrs ago on May 1st, I met my best friend and later to be my wife. I was 12 at the time. Ha..
She planted this tulip tree a few years ago and when I saw it starting to bloom I took some super macros of it. I set my focus on the center blossom which reminded me of her. If you know her, you know.
Better viewed large.
RM5, numerically the first production Routemaster (the first four were prototypes), crosses Cambridge Circus in London's West End. It is owned by Arrival London and is part of their Heritage Fleet (apologies for the blurring, but I wanted in include a rear view).
2012 is the 100th anniversary of bus route 38, and on Sunday 17th June Arriva marked the occasion by running three Routemasters from its Heritage Fleet as 'extras'. These were also joined by an RTL and RTW from the London Bus Company. No fares were charged on these buses, but passengers were invited to make a donation to Maggie's Cancer Charity. A vintage K-type bus dating from 1921 also traversed the route, carrying invited guests. As three of the 'New Bus 4 London' were also operating, the route attracted a lot of attention.

A Taurus CIA model 851 .38 revolver: My first shot at product photography - a good buddy of mine is a gunsmith, and when I noticed my leg holster was sweating through and corroding the cylinder, I got him to refinish it in two-tone OD green and black Cerakote (a ceramic coating that can withstand quite a bit of punishment). I thought it came out very well. I've always enjoyed the fantastic firearms photography on Nighthawk Custom and Tactical's website, and I thought I might try my hand at a firearms product shot.
Strobist: Nikon D90, 18-200 Nikkor, hotshoed su800 triggering two Honl-snooted sb600's to the 3 and 9 o'clock positions at 1/64, two bare sb-r200's at 1/32 - one from the six o'clock and another from about the two o'clock position. A single sb900 suspended directly overhead at 1/128 to soften some of the shadows. Exposure was 1/200 at f/14, ISO 200.

I made it! A whole week of considered colour :)
The last day is Scarlet Sunday!
Looking back at the week, I think this is my strongest shot which probably shows growth.
I have a bit of a thing for red shoes, my mum calls it a fetish :p I didn't realise how many I had until I pulled them all out to do a bigger photo with them all in, I decided there was more punch in just the one shoe photographed from the back- for the allure :)
I watched two films back to back with mum tonight.
Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. They were more girl films, but some really great themes and ideas. Mostly about love and our perception of love in life. Seems pretty apt with Valentines Day coming up.
And so to bed

#38: Money
My leftover money from a trip to Scotland in 2010. I can't wait to go back, but I don't think this will be enough to get me there.

These are size 104's. My son measures in chest/waist/hips as a size 92 so I first made both the shirt (04/04 #35) and the pants (04/04 #38) in striped JERSEY in size 104. The pattern calls for RIBBING but I thought jersey might work since DS really is a size 92 width. The pants were way too tight in jersey so I made another pair in ribbing; thankfully I bought both the jersey and ribbing when fabric.com had them.
Secondly, there is no diaper ease in this pattern in size 104. My 3.5yo son still wears diapers to bed so next time I will add some back crotch height (or is it called length?).
I used a honeycomb utility stitch to do the hems because I was too lazy to switch to a twin needle on the sewing machine. Oh, and he has breakfast stains on his sleeve already...

(Not to mention some pretty stellar friend-time and couch-time. In no specific order, of course. :D)
