Once the hire car was in our hands, it was off to Skulte which is adjacent to Riga Airport. This IL-28 has been plinthed here for some time, but I know very little about its history or its construction number.
Whilst there, we struck up a conversation with Nicolai. His English was not as good as the younger generation, but he told us he flew Ilyushin IL-38 maritime patrol aircraft to many places, including Mozambique. Today, he is part of a team that looks after this aircraft which has acted as a monument to those who lost their lives in years gone by - it has been present here since 1977.
He fought to retain the aircraft within an independent Latvia, and eventually won. After all, the Soviet era on Latvian soil is real and part of history.

Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) is a German light tank based on Czechoslovakian LT vz.38 tank. Vehicle was produced in 1939-1942. It’s main armament is 37 mm KwK 38(t) L/47.8 gun. Overall 1414 was produced (for Germany).
I wanted to build something small and not brick-consuming. I like this tank, and there aren’t many of them built in LEGO, so I decided to give it a try. It is one of the few vehicles in the German army that was gray, so there was no problem with matching the camouflage 😉
The biggest challenge for me were sloping fenders, but I’m happy with the outcome. I’m also happy with the cupola, You can fit the whole minifig inside. Although the hatch is purely exhibitional and does not open/close.
As it comes to features, tracks do roll, so You can drive the vehicle, and turret is rotatable.
Feel free to let me know what You Guys think in the commentary section down below ;)
Instead of just using my tripod, I took 72 handheld exposures of this flower bud in order to get the focal plane where I wanted it to be. I don't know how that registered logically in my brain. *click* "Drat. I'll get it on the next exposure." *click click* "Drat. One more time." *click* "Drat!"

Another hectic and busy week, working, spending time with my girls and finishing all the editing of the bike ride images from the other week. With all this going on very little time to get this weeks photo done. Well, a day late and here we are. Spent a couple of hours this evening working on week 38's theme of Joy. I've kept the idea of using the dictionary for a week such as this with very little time to spare.
A fair few shots taken with the camera on a tripod. Three images selected to edit in Lightroom and then a few more versions created with some finishing touches in Photoshop.
This is another of those weeks where I now think I may have uploaded the wrong image as my first choice but seeing as I borrowed my Mums dictionary specifically for this theme it seems rude not to use that shot. I will get my other option up in the outtakes pool later in the week.
Happy snapping people, keep up the good work!!!
But, still in love with Summer
One of my favorite songs since I was a little girl, It's the sweetest, sexiest and most lovely song ever! And older than me! :)
I will try a decent translation:
Paper eyes girl, where are you going?
Stay until dawn.
Girl, little feet, don't run anymore,
Stay until dawn.
Dream a dream slowly, between my hands,
until the sun rises through the window.
Silk skin Girl, don't run anymore,
your time is today ...
And don't talk anymore, girl with a chalk heart,
When everything is sleeping, I will steal you a color.
And don't talk anymore, girl with a chalk heart,
When everything is sleeping, I will steal you a color.
Girl voice of sparrow, where are you going?
stay until the day.
Girl honey breasts, don't run anymore,
stay until the day.
Sleep a bit and I, in the meantime, will build
a castle with your belly,
until the sun....
Girl, makes you laugh, until you cry, until you cry.
And don't talk anymore, girl with a chalk heart,
When everything is sleeping, I will steal you a color.
Happy 38 to me!!!!!! :D
Thank you very much everyone for your beautiful words and Wondeful gifts !!! ♥♥♥♥
