A day trip to Oxford today (30/03/2021) and the sun came with me as well! The buses in Oxford are a colourful collection from a number of operators including Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Stagecoach and, to a lesser extent, Arriva.
Although I didn't venture north of the High Street (next time maybe?), there was still a great deal to capture throughout the day.
CN 369 heads south on the Lac St-Jean sub with with three head end units (CN 8884, CN 2024 and CN 2340) and two more mid-train (CN 5765 & CN 2267). It is passing through Rousseau.
EYMS service X4 which links Hull, Ferriby, Brough, Market Weighton, and York on a two-hourly basis will be withdrawn after service on 20/05/17. The route was launched in March 2011 as a fast option between Market Weighton and York, missing Pocklington. It was extended to Brough in January 2012, and then to Hull in June 2013. Alternative bus or train journeys are available to cater for most of the links it provides, and it is only really travel between Newbald/Sancton and York/Hull, and between South Cave and York which will become impossible. Initially operated by Eclipse 348 allocated to Pocklington depot, workings were transferred to Elloughton along with 348 when the first extension was implemented. A second vehicle became necessary when the X4 was extended through to Hull, and Hull-based Eclipse 369 was repainted into route-specific livery. Shortly afterwards former E400 demonstrator 779 replaced 348 on the Elloughton duty, reflecting more the possibility of interworking with school routes than any demand for capacity.
The aforementioned 369 was caught this afternoon on Skeldergate in York with the 11:45 journey from Hull. Current diagramming sees this vehicle operate the 08:17 York-Hull X46 after the 05:55 Hull-York X4, providing an ostensibly rare opportunity to travel on board a single decker on that route. This is because the 08:48 ex York X4 was cutback to commence in Market Weighton in May 2015 and is currently operated by an X46 duty after a Bishop Burton College run.
369, back on their train, rounds the curve between the water works and wastewater treatment plant in north Marion.
Westbound CSX train Q-369-02 is near Lapaz, Indiana on June 2nd, 1991 with CSX 6527-6825. Train had 64 cars including a mix of loaded hoppers on the head end followed by a mix of auto racks, auto parts, refers and boxcars. I took 7 photos of this train including photos of BN, Milw, SCL and SP auto racks and C&NW box on the end.
The B&O actually named a coach after this town in 1949.
Lapaz, Indiana allegedly had an interlocking tower with facing/trailing point crossovers and intersected with PRR's Vandalia Line that ran from Logansport to South Bend. The junction was just east of Lapaz and also had a coal tower and depot.
CSX GP40 #6527 was built by EMD as B&O #3751 in January of 1971.
CSX GP40 #6825 was built by EMD as L&N #3029 in September of 1967.
