És un dels assentaments més coneguts d'època andalusí del territori Valencià, però el lloc encara està poc estudiat.

El Castellar de Alcoy un perfil de montaña reconocido como punto de referencia desde tiempos inmemoriales. Es uno de los sitios de caracteres extrategicos en el que se han encontrado vestíjios de antiguos asentamientos, existiendo la posibilidad de que se haya ocupado por diferentes motivos en varias y distintas épocas. Es uno de los asentamientos más conocidos de época andalusí del territorio Valenciano, pero el lugar aún está poco estudiado.
