Had a lovely surprise down on the Thames at Sonning this afternoon - a pair of beautiful black swans came gliding by as I was walking Milo. They were so pretty with their ruffled wings and not at all aggressive unlike their white cousins. A real pleasure to see them.

In the background rising from the ashes is the "Belmont Hotel," at the time it was built in 1924 it was the tallest building in the capital city at nearly 124 feet. After it was built, height restrictions on any future "skyscrapers" were put in place to protect views of the capitol building: which are still in effect to this day.

As for the pile of broken stone and tangled wires in the foreground, RIP one of my favorite buildings I never had the pleasure to enter, this site will be turned into a parking lot over the coming month.

Spotted in Reading today. Love the fact that hardly anyone has noticed!

Simple little pleasures, time to read.

Today sucked.

If we get a snow storm in the next few weeks, blame it on me.

Nothing but napping, tv watching, medicine taking, and tea drinking for me today. Bummer.

Feliz Ano Novo.

Got this one on top of Brasstown Bald.

This thought for the day sounds like a mantra for photographers.

Another place I've shot from previously, but the sky was amazing and I gave it a little more boost with Lightroom.

Like "I" Said ...

Yes, I love my notepads and my pens, pencils... all that retro stuff that gives writing some bohemian flavor. But when it comes to be practical and accurate, when you have to correct and rearrange chapters... Then my MAC is my best friend.

Door knocker in London Road, Saffron Walden.

Doesn't this guys look tough? Cardinals are what I call the "fake tough guy" birds. They talk a mean game, but they never back it up. Mockingbirds, on the other hand, are to be feared by everyone. They are the real tough ones.

Probably the best lift in the world, it only goes up two floors but you are serenaded on your journey by a voice choir all the way. The best installation at the Ikon Gallery at the moment.

"I can only imagine where these tiny feet will go in their lifetime. My only hope is that they never forget the way home."

Today I was the photographer at a Confirmation in West London so was very tired when I got home in the evening. As usual my Fiancee took care of me by cooking me a lovely roast dinner - it was very tasty and very much needed!

I love mockingbirds, and I listened to this one sing for about 15 minutes. I lost count of the number of distinct songs it sang in that time.
