"it is almost impossible for me to review this camera impartially given how it broke my heart. it was a spur of the moment purchase off ebay in germany, a cheap build camera from the german democratic republic built between 1987-89. in my opinion it’s a thing of beauty. it’s not my only beirette. it looks almost identical to the beirette vsn no.2 that i bought a little before but this one has a built in light meter." source: anaload.wordpress.com/2009/05/13/beirette-35-review/

It might seem big and imposing on this picture that I took, but the RC is the size of the Rollei 35. Ok, it might not have the style of the Rollei, but it has a rangefinder, something that the Rollei didn't. Typically Olympus, that is to say a bit weird and out of the usual. Weirdness is not present on
the RC, but it has the hallmarks of Olympus of the time, smallness, finesse, exquisite lens performance and build, quality, although Olympus cameras, to my eyes are a touch bellow in terms of toughness, but this is just my thought. The RC has a lovely speed dial on the top, very unusual for a leaf shutter camera, making it resemble (very vaguely!) the Leica M series top plate. A very common camera, underrated by the snob fans of the Canon GIII, like many other fine little rangefinders.
I cut up a notch in the top of a roll of expired 35mm and then in the dark, unrolled it to the end, then taped it to a marker cap, rerolled it and jammed it into my square format childhood camera, a Kodak Instamatic X-35F. I knew it would leak but I wanted it to some, but I did tape one side that I was able to to see obvious light through. After each shot, I twice wound the camera and fired off the shutter with the lens held against my arm. This was necessary to have the film advance enough to not overlap too much.
Scanned on my modified Epson V300.

This is my brother again yay. Yay for him letting me take photos of him. I didn't really do much today except go to work yay. Uni kind of starts in about three weeks and I've been on holidays for about four months and I find it so very strange because I was constantly being surrounded by people and being in contact with them constantly and now I have barely any so suddenly.

35/52: It's the Eye of the Conan
November 25 - December 1
Annnnnd here's something I haven't done since my very first month; taking a macro shot of Conan's eye. This week worked out much better since she's older, more used to me and is more open to having a macro lens right up close! (although.. judging from her eye... it surprised her!)
Anyways. This is Conan the Barbarian sitting next to the sunroom- taken this past Sunday after an insanely great evening of old friends and new.
Here's to a few more Kat pictures (They're really great subjects!) and shelving the Shells for now (get it? Shellving?) oh.
Bad joke.
Anyways! Here's to a phenomenal day!
The Pembrokeshire Triathlon at Broadhaven... We camped with some family who were competing, and a bunch of their friends, and watched some of the starts and finishes to events. This runner is approaching the finish...

The Pax 35 was made by the Yamoto company of Japan. It is a VERY compact fixed-lens 35mm rangefinder. Slowish f/3.5 lens. No doubt the scarcity of raw materials so soon after the war led to thriftiness in design. The camera is strongly based on Leica construction but small enough to fit comfortably onto a child's open palm. An online purchase, this example is non-operative in several ways (not mentioned in the listing) but still quite an interesting little camera to look at and hold.
Niblet is closing in on 6 pounds, 18 inches long. Her kidneys are fully functional and her liver is processing waste.
I've gained 34 pounds total so far and am still feeling fantastic.
