Hardly edited. I Love this picture :] The reason for the lack of color, is because it was a dying Rose.. But yeah.

This is the view of downtown Dallas from I-30 east of town heading west. When I was a kid, Dallas was this big mysterious place we only went on special occassions for vacation and such. We always came in to town on this exact highway with this view. The skyline really hasn't changed in 20 years that much.
I rarely drive this road these days, so it's always kind of neat coming in this way and remembering those old feelings. From a motorcycle it's even better though since you can see everything in every direction without a problem.

Oman is home to an impressive number of species of birds that vary from residents, that stay all year around, to breeding birds, that spend a good part of the growing season in Oman to raise their young, migrants who pass through Oman with the seasons, to wintering birds who like to spend a good part of the winter in Oman to escape colder conditions up north. While many species of birds are relatively common as they are part of the ecosystems of the state, it is always a thrill to stumble upon a rare bird or vagrant, that does not really form part of any the Oman ecosystems. Maybe it got lost during its travels between its summer and winter residence or it got displaced by bad weather

That is the second cell phone we have had stolen this month and the car wrecked. 2010 is not being very friendly so far

Well I've made it to 30. Nearly a third of the way there. I've mentioned before that I've not had much luck with approaching male strangers and when I saw Sam sitting there enjoying a roll up he looked quite unapproachable. But I've been determined to get a bit more variety so I pressed on. I'd just taken a rather sarcastic rejection from another guy a few mins before and I think I was still smarting from that so I was very pleased when Sam gave a huge friendly smile and said sure.
Truth be told I don't think I got as good a shot as I'd have liked here. I like the pose but I cut off his hands and should have gone either closer or further away to get a more defined composition. But it's a great smile and I'm happy with the lighting and focus so its not all bad.
I gave Sam my card and he told me he's also on Flickr so hope to see you on here Sam. Thanks so much for agreeing to be my 30th stranger!
