Europe, Portugal, Algarve, Sotavento, Fuzeta-a, UDD, Passenger, Conductor (uncut)
Back to the Sotavento 2022 travelogue. Shot at Fuezta (A) station. The conductor was wearing a facemask (in Portugal wairing face masks in public transportation was still mandatory).
A DMU (UDD in CP parlance) of the 450 series getting ready for departure at Fuzeta-Moncaropacho station. This series started its life as the 400 series, built in 1981 by the Portuguese Sorefame (Sociedades Reunidas de Fabricações Metálicas) company in licence of the Budd Company of Philadelphia USA. After a renovation in 1999, they became the current 450 series and are the mainstay of CP's VRSA-Lagos service. They’re equipped with two nicely roaring 14 Litre, 6-cylinder Cummins NTA 855 - R3 engines (Total output: 2 x350 kW).
This is number 28 of Linha do Algarve and 21 of the Fuzeta album.
What a difference 2 weeks can make, from snow and Siberian temperatures to crocuses and bees in the garden!
It was beautifully Springy here in the East this weekend, I'm sure we will have another few cold snaps before true Spring starts but this is enough for now....
We gained 3 minutes and 55 seconds of daylight today- I love this time of year :)
Wishing you all a great new week ahead.
I know Christmas has come and gone, but I couldn't walk by two of my favourite things, fences and bokeh, and not snap a few shots!
Happy first Fence Friday for 2014!

This is the Brumunddal view at the seaside of Mjøsa.
Mjøsa is Norway's largest lake, as well as one of the deepest lakes in Norway and in Europe. It is the fourth-deepest lake in Norway. It is located in the southern part of Norway, about 100 km north of Oslo. Its main tributary is Gudbrandsdalslågen in the north; the only distributary is Vorma in the south.
Europe The Netherlands; Zuid Holland; Rotterdam; Rijnhaven; Katendrecht; Maashaven; Bollard; Bolder; Cables; Trossen
At the end of the 80s during the big transformation of the Rotterdam harbor (due to the containerization, new harbours near the coast were dug (the Maasvlakte) the Maashaven together with the adjacent Rijnhaven largely lost their harbour function. They’re both are being used a berth for rhineships and the Rijnhaven will partly largely filled in and uses for a floating park: the Rijnhavenpark.
The bollard shown here dates from for before the transformation and now is used for the berthing of rhineships.
