La cicogna bianca (Ciconia ciconia) è un grande uccello migratore appartenente alla famiglia dei Ciconiidi. È facilmente riconoscibile per il suo piumaggio bianco con punte delle ali nere e il lungo becco rosso. Nidifica su alberi, tetti o strutture artificiali, spesso in prossimità di zone umide. Ogni anno compie lunghe migrazioni tra l’Europa e l’Africa subsahariana.

The white stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a large migratory bird belonging to the stork family, Ciconiidae. It is easily recognized by its white plumage with black wingtips and long red bill. It nests on trees, rooftops, or man-made structures, often near wetlands. Each year it undertakes long migrations between Europe and sub-Saharan Africa.

Happy 2009 Everyone!!
For Christmas I had some jewellery making stuff, beads, wire and what I now know are called findings (all the bits you need to turn stuff into earrings necklaces etc).
So I have spent some time making some pretty things. I have a thing about jewellery and the prospect of being able to make myself an endless supply is very pleasing to me. I made the necklace you can see in this picture and am in the process of making matching earrings.
I'm hoping that once I have the skills I'll be able to sell some of the stuff so keep an eye out if you fancy handmade stuff - I'll post some pics of my creations soon.
Hope you all have a lovely 2009 and that it brings everything you are hoping for.

Abstract...
Is it snow or is it dirt? How 'bout a combination of the two? Snirt!? Well, I think it's certainly a funny word. I didn't make it up. :)
I know this isn't a "pretty" shot by any means, I was aiming for a different perspective by angling my camera up towards the hill. I took this one with my iPhone while out walking the dog this morning. The kids had a "snow day" on what would have been their first day of exams. Not sure why they called it, they've been bused to school in far worse weather.
