This watch instantly evokes so many different memories whenever I look at it. My son has always loved owls, so I bought him this piece on a recent trip. Looking at it, in a heartbeat I'm reminded of that trip and all of its experiences. However, I also think of a younger version of my son, explaining to me why he loved owls and I think of others I've known who've favoured pocket watches. So much in life is tied to timing and yet we have so little control over it; you can't stop it, can't get it back, and can only subtly influence the way that it causes events to unfold. All we have left are memories and consequences as time silently passes by, leaving us in its wake.
View On Black (but you don't have to)
I had taken a picture earlier today that took advantage of the epic weather (how often do you get snow and fog in the suburbs of Philly?), but I never got around to editing it, so this will have to do for today.
This was actually pretty fun to shoot, although the ground was freezing and now all my toes are froze TT_TT
Besides the colors, it's pretty much SOOC.
I am copying this idea from someone else I saw do it - I just loved it so much I had to do it myself.
This is motif#23 : It is a little butterfly worked with 1 shuttle and the ball, but there are two parts which I have had to work in reverse, to substitute a shuttle exchange. Size is about 4x3cm, thread is DMC 80. Those are not onion rings, in fact only the inner is a real ring, others are long chains joined at the base. I've always used this method because it works good for me. Outer last row is finished with a border worked with a second shuttle filled with a metallic thread, with a method similar to what you can see here (in italian, by Edda Guastalla):

I worked in reverse with the second shuttle, but the result is the same.
I haven't copied the pattern, it seems to me like a butterfly of a cartoon!

(Minimal to no editing, natural sky colors)
It was an early Saturday morning and I had no plans, so I asked my brother if he wanted to go to the Salton Sea. He agreed and we started getting things ready since it's a 3-4 hour drive. I wanted to take some shots of the sunset so we left around 2pm and arrived at about 6pm. It's true what people say, the smell of dead fish still lingers, however, I got used to it pretty quickly. I plan to go back and explore the lake some more and some of the abandoned buildings.
This is the first shot I took and it's the center shot. It's in between #22:PasteltheSky and #24:TheRedLady
Katelyn, Alyssa, and I went to Holy Ground yesterday.
It was hotter than the centre of the sun, but the sky was clear and the water was beautiful.
A jellyfish the size of a frisbee almost attacked me and a horsefly tried to bite my face off.
