icebergs to ice balls/eggs! :)...the ice photos continue!...this ice weather phenomena is from February 2021 off Lake Ontario. I had never heard of it or seen it before! Ice balls or ice eggs!

Having cancelled a camper van excursion expecting icy roads I was delighted to get out with Steve and Ian for a day trip to Assynt, a frozen Loch Droma awaited and scattered clouds allowed the sun to shine through but were refusing to reveal An Teallach. We could not have asked for better photography conditions and no ice to contend with on the roads!

Tindfjallajökull is just a 'small' glacier-capped volcano to the north of the infamous Eyjafjallajökull and the brooding, much larger Katla. The area forms the UNESCO listed Katla Geopark.

Smoke from the oil wells blanketed the country for a year or more after the country was liberated. It was very hard to breathe. Many people now suffer from lung related diseases as a result of this environmental catastrophe.

On this day it was also diverted via Cambridge, booked arrival at KX 19-36.
This is the only LNER service of the entire week that calls at this remote station.
800101 was the first of the LNER Azuma fleet to reach Inverness albeit in Virgin Trains East Coast livery.
