No story with this photo. I just really liked the look of it.

The hotel pictured behind it was the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama.

Which, by the way, Montgomery was great. I didn't expect to like Alabama, to be honest. But it was so calm and relaxed and - just a breath of fresh air. :).

Perhaps the most physically demanding shot I've done so far. To lie inches away from flames on our notorious grass with water attacking my face isn't the most pleasant experience. However, I guess it was worthwhile. I have burned our home's supply of newspaper, and I had to resort to paper bags.

And if i could, I would have lit a bon-fire like thing, but I couldn't risk burning down our garden :P

That would've beaten this paltry little fire

On a brighter note, no school tomorrow! :D

yay :)

The great part though is how well I can feel moving, kicking, and rolling!

I didn't the baby would get bigger and stronger that quickly!

Today was a good day. I met Martina at her apartment where we decided on a fun ethnic restaurant, Vientiane Noodle Shop, an authentic Laotian and Thai restaurant. We got Vientianne meatballs as an appetizer and then I got Yellow Pad Noodles with beef, chicken, and pork combo. The meatballs were insanely good! and the noodles were fantastic! Martina got a noodle soup which she proceeded to load with spicy sauces which in her mind were not that spicy. It turns out her version of spicy and my version are quite different I found it to be quite spicy! ;) We also got Bubble teas, Martina, avocado, and me, green apple, they were awesome! It was a great dining experience! During the meal we talked of our different travel adventures, her to Europe and me to Texas. We also exchanged coins for our trade, this is a 2 Euro and I gave her a Mercury dime! We are now going to get a picture we took during her overseas travels and printed and take it to hobby lobby to get the coins and picture framed! After dinner we went back to her place and looked at pictures from our trips! I am trading her a picture of a snowy cow and she is trading me a picture of the snowy alps! We then left to go see The Hateful Eight, and on the way we stopped at Kopps where she treated me to some Key Lime Ice Cream. It was even better than I remembered it! After that we headed to the Bayshore Mall to go to the movie! However when we got there it turned out their website was misleading and they were no longer showing The Hateful Eight. So we googled it and decided to go over to Majestic to the Marcus and watch a 9:55 showing. The movie was good, however there were some scenes I felt were unnecessary and too extreme, mainly the scene with the naked man. Martina couldn’t weigh in on this however because she luckily fell asleep for that part. After the movie, which got done around 1AM, we headed back to her place and talked about my poetry and listened to some music. Today was a good day.

L932 CTT Iveco 59-12 / Mellor Duet B21D. New in 1994 to Transit Holdings in Exeter (1003), later to Stagecoach Devon (303; 46303), and purchased by me in 2005 from Bristol Bus Sales. Painted by me and fully route-branded, both 'Exwick' and 'Torre' were the mainstay of the 660 service until I lost the tender in 2008. They were both very reliable buses, ideally suited to the route we used them on. In 2008 'Exwick' was sold and exported to Zimbabwe, where many of her sisters had already gone three years previously.

This was a difficult challenge for me, as I live in the country, and the nearest towns are “bedroom cummunities” with not much to see except homes and shopping malls. I thought of this 50’s diner that has recently been moved to this spot and restored. I didn’t have a chance to go inside this week but it’s definitely “on my list.” I'm not totally happy with the processing on this, but I didn't have enough time to play around some more. Too many extra things came up at the end of the week.

This image shows the centre of the globular cluster Messier 22, also known as M22, as observed by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. Globular clusters are spherical collections of densely packed stars, relics of the early years of the Universe, with ages of typically 12 to 13 billion years. This is very old considering that the Universe is only 13.8 billion years old.

Revista VISION Espacio de Artes Visuales

This is stranger 22 in my project and was taken in the Brick Lane area last Saturday. Magnus is a Swedish guy who has been working here for 1 and a half years and lives in Hyde Park. He was spending the weekend with Frida (my stranger 23) who was just down for the weekend.

Overall, I feel the portrait could have been better and wasn't going to put it up. But in the spirit of it being a learning group I have decided that I should post it.

For some reason I have focused on his furthest eye rather than the closest and I am not sure why I did that. It also may have been a good idea to either get him to remove his cap or using some fill flash as an alternative shot.

I wanted to take a picture of him with his tattoos showing but was struggling to get him and his arm in the frame as my lens was 50mm (75mm equivalent) and I was running out of space. I got one which I will show in the comments but it turned to be a bit soft.

Overall, I think I should have taken more time but with the weather being so crappy I was rushing and I think it shows.

Anyway, both Magnus and Frida were great subjects and very patient. Thank you for being a part of my project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the

We took a trip to Fredericksburg, TX yesterday. And I snuck this picture of Ray while we were eating lunch. I knew better than to focus on him, so I stuck to the Droid. Right after I snapped this, he said, "You aren't taking a picture of me, are you?" No, no, no, of course not.

I'm going out of order with my 365 pics...not a good sign.

Today’s date, 02/22/20, is a palindrome, it reads the same backward and forward.

Anyway that aside I decided it was time to try out the Panorama on my iPhone. So this is our back yard. I built a playhouse for the Grand Blessings that they enjoyed for about 13 years then along came Hurricane Irma in 2017 that took it down along with our fence. Clara and I decided we would leave the yard open and visit with our neighbors more but the neighbors didn’t agree, and so they replaced our fence with their own and as a result we now enjoy a few hundred feet of free fencing. Maybe they were trying to tell us something.

The other thing we noticed is the palm trees that we bought back around 2005 as “Mini” Palms. They weren’t supposed to get this big. I don’t suppose if we dig them up and return them we could get a refund. So they lied…..but maybe we’ll get some coconuts.

And that included oil check, windshield cleaning, and air in tires! 1953 Studebaker Pickup

My son and I hit downtown GR this morning for Celebration on the Grand. Or so we thought - turns out it didn't start until later in the day. So, instead, we tooled around downtown checking out the sights and taking the occasional photograph. I stopped in (as I cannot resist doing) to MadCap for a cup of the most delicious coffee to be found around here. Suzann was seated at the window and I couldn't help but take advantage of the setting and light to ask for a stranger portrait. She readily agreed. While I waited for my coffee, though, two women sat down outside the window and interrupted the shot I had in mind. I considered, then asked politely if they would mind standing to the side for a moment. They did not - it turns out they were students of a local art college and fully supported my efforts. Thanks to Suzann, the two women who moved, and the blessed patience of my 2-year-old in the stroller, all of whom helped make this shot possible!

Normally I carry business cards so people can find this and see the photos I took. I told her that, reached to my shoulder for the camera strap zipper (Black Rapid Strap - if you're looking to buy one, let me know, it's for sale), only to remember that I changed over to a new camera strap (Luma Labs Cinch strap) with no pocket. I wrote the Flickr address on a napkin and gave it to her, to which she responded, "Fancy!" I'm quite sure that it was intended with a light touch of sarcasm, which I appreciated. So, Suzann, if you DO end up checking this out, thanks for bearing with me!

This picture is #22 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

**UPDATE** Suzann later contacted me and let me know that she has a nine-year-old daughter. Suzann recently decided to start a journal "chronicling my observations about her and what makes her so magnificent" that she will give to her daughter when she graduates high school. Suzann was writing the first entry in this photograph. I sent her copies of the images, so now she has photographs and a great story to go with the journal.
