Life is different now. My job is now, my everything. Well both my jobs, but mainly being an architect. Ever since the outbreak, I haven't been this sectors lantern, just a guardian of Earth. There aren't many things that happen here either, it's like since I've gotten this ring, people stopped being evil. Alan has been trying to set me up on a date for the past few weeks, but I really don't want to. It's something that I don't need at all right now. I finally have been doing good with my *real* job. People have been using my designs for the past couple of weeks, even if I think they aren't my best work, it pays the bills.
Alan over comms - You know I met Morgan Freeman? Saved him from getting shot back in 43.
Alan has been catching up on lots of media and events. With him being trapped in a lantern he couldn't learn anything he didn't hear.
Alan over comms - I think I fought with Jerry Seinfeld's dad in a battle. Maybe I could've been on Seinfeld.
John - I'm pretty sure you'd be like 80 at that point Alan.
Alan over comms - 74… But still, old actors exist.
John - Funny, so are we gonna see that film tonight?
Alan over comms - X2? Why see a film about people with powers when you can talk to them?
John - By that logic, you wouldn't want to see any war movies. Why see one when you could go to war yourself?
Alan over comms - That logic makes no sense. Anyways speaking of movies, how about instead of taking this old coot, you take that model.
John - Mari? Nah, she is way out of my league.
Alan over comms - You're a Green Lantern, a superhero. What better league is there?
John - I guess…
Before I finish my sentence, I feel something pierce my shoulder.
John - AGGGHGGHGGA.
Alan over comms - John? John!
I smash through a rooftop, into a truck parked inside the building. I roll off the truck, pulling the object out of my shoulder. I see a man drop from the hole in the ceiling.
John - Why can't I move?
??? - It's a neurotoxin, it'll go away soon.
John - What in the hell are throwing spears in people for?
He walks over picking up the rod, kicking me in the process.
??? - It's a javelin actually.
John - Who are you? And what are you doing here?
Javelin - Name's Javelin, I'm a mercenary, hired to keep you occupied for about ten more minutes.
John - Why?
Javelin - Well since the buyer didn't ask for any disclosure, someone wants to rob a bank, so I'm keeping you occupied while he does.
John - Who?
Javelin - Heh, you ask a lot of questions, you know that. I can't tell you that, that's just plain rude.
I feel my ring start to twitch, he notices it, tossing a small price of glowing metal on the ground.
Javelin - That's ion energy of the yellow kind.
John - How do you… know about ion energy?
Javelin - Let's just say, us “super villains” stay touch, even the intergalactic pink ones.
John - Sinestro…
My eyes move over to the piece of metal. My ring looks to be charging up with the ion energy rather than de-power. I feel my arms be able to move again, along with the rest of my body.
John - Oh yeah…
Javelin - This wasn't part of my contract. He can keep his money.
He slams his javelin into the ground, releasing smoke from the sides. I create a fan construct to blow the smoke away, but when I do, he is gone.
Alan over comms - John? Your signals back, are you alright?
John - Fine, but I need to get to the bank. I'll fill you in later.
I fly through the hole in the roof, making my way towards the bank. I look down to my ring. Why did you absorb the yellow energy? You should be poisoned right now. I stop thinking about it when I arrive at the bank. There is a huge hole in the glass. I fly inside to see… No it can't be.
Most people were concentrating on getting photos of the abbey in the background, I made sure I also got this tidy 21......

-Meme-21F-2: the most basic version still in service, usually found in client state air forces, as the F-2 was retired from active service in the KNAF in the brief time between the Femynist Invasion (more like radical misandrist invasion) and Demon War. The F-2 differs from the plain F in that it has two missiles and only one 30mm cannon (seen here) instead of no missiles and two 30mm cannons.
-Meme-21IF: Decent avionics were introduced to give the plane all-weather capability and a radar that didn't suck eggs. Sadly, the gun was lost, because no one in the mid-60s thought guns would ever be used in air-to-air combat again. IFs in UAR service got rekt by Samaritan aircraft in close combat because of this.
-Meme-21IFM: Fixing the mistake of no gun, the IFM trades the drop tank for a gunpod with a two-barreled 22mm cannon (better seen here). It also carried the new K-73 missiles, four instead of two old K-13s. There were other features too but whatever.
-Meme-21E: The ultimate evolution of the fighter, achieving third generation status with its look-down/shoot-down radar. The E was a stop-gap solution to the shortcomings of the Meme-23D then coming into service, but by the time the E was in full production the upgraded Meme-23MF was entering production as well. Few Es entered KNAF service before the the Demon War, most saw service in client states. This would be the end of the line for the Meme-21.

It's dandelion season. Several years ago, the powers that be banned all herbicides and chemicals in our Province which were used to keep weeds in check. I'm not complaining...better to have healthy communities rather than manicured lawns. However, since then, the yearly crop of dandelions (and all weeds) has exploded. Every year more and more appear. While we hate them in our lawn, I have to admit, they make a nice backdrop.
