This is the first of four images I'll post in sequence from a tremendous morning back in September. All are of the same scene, looking down from near the top of Mam Tor across the Hope Valley (Derbyshire, England) during a temperature inversion when a sea of fog was lapping against the hills. Sunrise was at 6:50, so they span the blue hour to the point at which the post-sunrise light started to get a little harsher.
If you get a touch of déjà vu, that's because you really have seen a couple of them before. One was on my stream for about 36 hours before I stupidly, and in total error, erased it... doh!...another I more recently deleted as I've decided I now want them all together and in order as a record of the transition. Not good etiquette to post-erase-repost, but there you go. I'll conquer my embarrassment, no doubt :-)

My son has a wood burning stove in his living room. It is lovely and warm when lit, and the fireplace surround is white - as can be seen in the image above.
Although I had been sleeping in the room, I hadn't noticed the spider nest on the fireplace surround until....

For me this image is what my 365 project is all about. Not that it's particularly great or anything. Just that in normal circumstances, unless I'm away, or the light isn't great, or the scenery perfect, I'd got to the point where I wouldn't bother to take a photo.
There's no chance without the project that, travelling a slightly different route to collect my daughter in the Northeast, having visited a customer first, I would have spotted these cherry pickers in a distant industrial estate and drive to seek them out to get a photo.
It definitely makes you more observant, and taking photographs of scenes you wouldn't normally consider must make you better in the long term.
