09.08.2022 | Kopalnia kredy w Chełmie | SM42-2026 o numerze zakładowym "15" stoi ze składem 10 wagonów typu 42Wp podczas załadunku kredy. Urobek w postaci kredy wydobywany jest przez elektryczną koparkę marki Skoda E302, która jest zasilana napięciem 6 kV.
Historyczne wydobycie kredy rozpoczęto tutaj około 1926 roku pod kątem przemysłu cementowego dla potrzeb cementowni Firley w Rejowcu, lecz dopiero w 1960 roku kopalnia kredy rozpoczęła eksploatację dla potrzeb Cementowi Chełm.
Aktualnie powierzchnia obszaru górniczego wynosi około 224 h. Produkcja odbywa się tu w systemie ciągłym, zmianowym, siedem dni w tygodniu.

The Castro Marim railway station, currently a halt, is actually located in the village of São Bartolomeu do Sul, 5.5 km (3.4 mi) from the town of Castro Marim.
It is located at PK 389+911 on the Algarve line (coordinates 37°11′48.31″N; 7°29′2.15″W).
Today the Algarve line is fully electrified, but at the time of publication of this photo, it is still the 0450 series diesel railcars that provide commercial passenger service.
My photography over the past few weeks has been dominated by visits to the wildflower fields in the Eastern Eifel on various days and in differing weather conditions. This riot of color exerts a magical pull on me time and again.
To achieve continuous sharpness from the nearest flower to infinity, I used the Nikon Z8's automatic focus shift function.

Keyon has the chops, but something rubs me wrong about his stage presence, remines me of his 'New School' classmate Robert Glasper whom I seen last year on the same stage and hated. It may be just me, as many young people around me seemed to enjoy his performance. It was all about ME; from large picture of him on the screen, to somehow disconnected solos.

44787 (Kiskunfélegyháza-Poggio Rusco) Between April 7 and April 20, 2026, a total track closure was held between Dugo Selo and Vrbovec stations in Croatia. Due to this, trains that normally enter or exit Hungary via Gyékényes were diverted to the diesel-operated Kotoriba – Varaždin – Zabok line, using the Murakeresztúr border crossing. The photo taken between Čakovec and Varaždin.
De meivakantie van 2026 bracht ons gezin weer eens in Denemarken. Een heerlijk weekje bij de kust. We verbleven bij Emmerlev Klev. Iets ten noorden van ons vakantieverblijf waren de fraaie zandsteenkliffen, het mooie eiland Rømø en het fraaie stadje Ribe te vinden en ten zuiden de Marschbahn. Allemaal met grote aantrekkingskracht, maar de Marschbahn heeft voor een treinenliefhebber toch net iets meer te bieden.
Vooral omdat op deze fraaie lijn nu nog met een beetje geluk diesellocs van de serie 218 zijn te vinden. Tenminste, t/m 30 april in de IC-dienst en met wat geluk één omloop in de autotreindienst tussen Niebüll en Westerland (Sylt). Achteraf bleek er bijna de hele week één setje 218’s in de autotreindienst te rijden, al werden de locs soms gedurende de dag vervangen door de moderne 245’s. Het doek lijkt ook snel te vallen voor de oude diesels. De Marschbahn is nu nog extra interessant door de aanwezigheid van de mooie armseinen. Die gaan de komende tijd ook verdwijnen. De kabels voor de nieuwe lichtseinen liggen al in een goot en de plekken waar de lichtseinen komen zijn al goed te zien.
Op de eerste zondag van de vakantie werd al vroeg opgestaan om in het ochtendlicht de eerste treinen vast te leggen. Bij Klanxbüll kreeg ik direct al drie aangename verrassingen voor de lens. De eerste was een setje 218’s met een autotrein. Deze stond in de omloop, maar die kan zo weer veranderen en zo was ik blij dat de omloop nog klopte. De grootste verrassing was de inzet van de RDC-locs. Normaliter wordt de dienst uitgevoerd met twee verschillende saaie RCD-Vectrons die ik in de voorgaande bezoeken al veelvuldig had vastgelegd. Deze dag reden er een vervangende huur-Vectron (248 019) en de gave DE2700. Dit bleef de hele week de tractie.
Als tweede stek werd de bijna iconische stek bij Friedrich-Wilhelm-Lübke-Koog bezocht waar het eerder nog wel wat bewolkt was. Bij passage van de IC-trein had ik hulp van een lekker zonnetje. Tot en met 30 april 2026 reed er op iedere dag nog één IC-paar met een 218. De andere IC was al vervangen door een ICE-L. Vanaf 1 mei 2026 zijn de IC's van en naar Westerland vervangen door ICE-L’s. Daarom was ik ook wel blij dat ik één van de laatste IC’s nog kon vastleggen en ook nog met een 218 die ik nog niet eerder had gefotografeerd. Al blijft het een kwestie van smaak deze bijzondere variant. Persoonlijk vind ik deze wel geslaagd.
Hier zien we de DB 218 497-6 met IC 2311 Westerland (Sylt)-Köln Hauptbahnhof bij Friedrich-Wilhelm-Lübke-Koog op 26-4-2026.

Kurt Elling was headlining with guitar virtuoso Charlie Hunter and impressive drummer Marcus Finnie plus Kenny Banks Jr. another top-shelf musician on keyboard. Elling was mostly funk, some blues numbers, but finished with a ballad 'Desperado', as encore.

Easter Sunday is a day for steam trains in Sydney with amazing steam train journeys all across the city.
This is the 3526 historic steam engine. Built in 1917, 3526’s original number was 1314.

So this morning (Easter Sunday) I had to go to work out at Marsden Park. Despite it being Easter Sunday this is a normal work day for most people in Sydney.
Anyway, after work I belted over, via the M7 and M2, to the T9 Northern Railway Line where I had to secure a space somewhere to photograph the steam trains!! I was able to photograph the trains at both Cheltenham and Rhodes.

23 april 2026: Op jacht in de Borinage 🚂☀️
Vandaag werd er schitterend weer voorspeld en ik wilde graag enkele openstaande puntjes op mijn Belgische lijstje afvinken. Omdat de agenda op het werk het toeliet, heb ik een halve dag verlof gevraagd om op pad te gaan. Dit stond op de planning: de European Sleeper in Genly, de vrijgekapte insnijding in Neufvilles, een nieuw plekje van Pieter DS in Forchies-les-Marches en de koolzaadvelden langs Lijn 1.
Benieuwd hoe ver ik geraakt ben? Stay tuned! 😉
Eerste stop: Genly (L96)
Ik was ruimschoots op tijd vertrokken – gelukkig maar – want ter plekke ben ik toch eerst het verkeerde veld in gesukkeld. Het resultaat: een pak kletsnatte voeten en schoenen door de overvloedige ochtenddauw. De prijs voor de schoonheid, zeker?
Lijn 96 rond Genly is een van de weinige plekken waar de zon ideaal staat voor de nieuwe European Sleeper van Berlijn over Brussel naar Parijs. Geen schaduw op het front van de loc, perfect voor de foto. Na de logistieke problemen tijdens de paasvakantie bolt de trein deze week gelukkig weer het volledige traject. Vandaag had de trein wel een halfuurtje vertraging op de klok, maar geen erg: zo viel de passage mooi te combineren met een Ouigo richting de lichtstad.
Door mijn enthousiasme bij het naderen van de ES ben ik wel wat te snel beginnen afdrukken. Hierdoor stopte de reeks opnames sneller dan ik had gehoopt. Maar bon, mits wat croppen blijft de plaat met de Traxx 188 en de gele velden een fraai geheel!

April 23, 2026: Hunting in the Borinage 🚂☀️
With a brilliant weather forecast today, I wanted to tick off a few remaining spots on my Belgian to-do list. Since my work schedule allowed for it, I took a half-day off to head out. On the agenda: the European Sleeper in Genly, the cleared cutting in Neufvilles, a new spot in Forchies-les-Marches shown to me by Pieter DS, and the rapeseed fields closer to home along Line 1.

First stop: Genly (L96)
I left home well ahead of time – luckily – as I managed to wander into the wrong field at first. The result: soaking wet feet and shoes thanks to the heavy morning dew. I guess that's the price you pay for the shot!
The section of Line 96 around Genly is one of the few spots where the sun is perfectly positioned for the new European Sleeper from Berlin via Brussels to Paris. No shadows on the front of the loco, just perfect for photography. After some logistical issues during the Easter holidays, the train is fortunately running the full route again this week. Today, it was running about thirty minutes behind schedule, but no worries: that made it easy to combine the passage with a Ouigo heading towards the City of Light.
In my excitement as the ES approached, I started firing my shutter a bit too early. As a result, my burst of shots ended sooner than I had hoped. But oh well, with a little cropping, the shot of the Traxx 188 and the yellow fields still makes for a beautiful picture!
