London-based singer, songwriter and guitarist, Olive Jones draws on soul, blues and alt-folk to produce her sumptuous music. She was on her first ever US + Canadian tour! She had the Gotts Street Park group *a drummer and bassist with her and crisscrossed the USA, even had a gig in Toronto at the Mod Club.
Montreal jazz Festival brings some (jazz) household names; some not so jazz names. Olive Jones is a new name for me. Olive grew up listening to jazz. First I thought a spelling mistake, as Montrealer Oliver Jones used to play a lot at the festival. He retired few times already. I was at his 'last' concert around 2017. He actually died few weeks after the festival ended.
