Accidentally set up a flat lay this afternoon while working on these crocheted catnip fish for a cat rescue group my Mom likes to support.
I'm still working out variations of the pattern to best suit what I'm looking for but I'm making progress. These were requested for a spring event so I've got lots of time to sort out the details.
Started with this crochet pattern and have been making slight adjustments here and there.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

2023 Photo 92/273: Our redbud trees have not been profuse with blossoms this spring, but at least what blossoms there are have finally filled out. Of course this means, a bit sadly, that they won't be with us much longer. ©.2023 John M. Hudson | jmhudson1.com

Over the past 6 years, I have evolved a great deal as a photographer. I rarely chase the epic big scene anymore (but will happily capture it if the moment calls for it), and I'm much more open and curious to whatever nature provides. I've found this approach much more relaxing and I'm much happier as a photographer and human being.
On my past workshop with Muench Workshops we were camped at a high mountain lake above Silverton, Colorado and I couldn't help finding myself enamored by the light reflecting off of the lake in the late afternoon. I pulled out my camera and telephoto lens and enjoyed a few quiet moments alone at the lake while everyone was getting ready for dinner. What I loved is that I showed the image to our workshop attendees and was happy to see them begin to imagine the possibilities that exist all around us if we are observant and open to interpreting the landscape through the lens in creative ways.
Here, reflections of the sun are created by small ripples on the lake, creating the illusion of ships passing through a passage in the arctic.
Hope you dig it!
2023 Photo 126/239: Waiting for dinner at The Patron Cantina in Sandston, Va., across from the Richmond International Airport. Good Mexican food. Tomorrow morning early, I will be joining some friends to float down the James River for three hours to photograph bald eagles, ospreys, prothonotary warblers and other birds along the waterway. c.2023 John M. New Years Day 2023, we walked to the viewpoint at Craigmony... to discover a lack of view!
Still it is nice walking up through all that history that seeps into the rocks of the old promantory fort that overlooks the village, an ancient place with scant modern investigation and just some old stories and myths attached to the place. There does seem to be evidence of vitrified walls and rock cut ditches though which lends some solidity to the idea of it being a defensive location at the end of Glen Urquhart and Glen Coiltie as they meet the Great Glen and Loch Ness.
2023 Photo 7/358 Day 317 of The Tooth and Day 183 of The Boo We call the area of living room carpet and wood floor nearest the big front windows the doglings’ “Winter Quarters” when the sun heats it up on winter mornings and afternoons. It’s a good place for our cairn terrier doggage to nap after a tough morning of hunting mice (Boo Boo, the black one) or destroying toilet paper rolls (Tooth Barkington, the blond one). ©2023 | jmhudson1.com
