The trainspotters were out in force when they heard that a Norfolk Southern locomotive with a custom paint job was passing through Botetourt County. c.2023 John M. Hudson
This images was the result of using PixInsight and 62 subs. The comet's movement within 15 mins integrated time resulted in minor star trailing: www.flickr.com/photos/cloud_spirit/54069262835.
The anti-tail was recorded with camera settings between iso 160 and 800 and exposure times between 20s and 30s, mounted on an Astrotrac clock drive. I removed most starts in order to boost the comet's structure and magnificent anti-tail.
The field of view is ~ 7.5 x 5 degrees. The entire tail's length was more than 10 degrees and the anti-tail may have been almost as long.
The bunny I crocheted today reminds me of a budget Pikachu and made me laugh, so of course I figured it would be perfect for today's photo!

Last Saturday afternoon, I headed out for a quick walk in the rain to look for photos. I didn’t have to go very far, though. The tree at the corner gave me my picture right away.

A stroll around Bodiam Castle this morning, the castle is only open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday until mid February, but a nice stroll in the grounds and a few more photos, followed by coffee and scones in the cafe.
The first of my images this year to make it into that Magical, Mysterious world known as EXPLORE.
The 2023 firefall season seems to have been very brief. I snowshoed to Sentinel Dome on Friday, February 17, and it was cloudy that night and the following one. Before then, it was too early for an optimal alignment. I shot this on Sunday, Feb 19. On Monday, a huge storm blew in, ending the opportunities to photograph the firefall.
While thousands of people gathered on the floor of Yosemite Valley, only a few watched from the rim. 11 miles of snow travel from the nearest plowed road keeps out the crowds.
Three more pink blooms today. This Magnolia has had an astonishing spring, having not only flowered early but in continuing to put out new flowers, and their not being blown off or damaged by heavy rain.
