Trona Railway SD40-2 #2007 leads a train loaded with soda ash past the tufa spires of the Trona Pinnacles.
Pine Cree Regional Park is a prairie anomaly: a deep cut in the surrounding grassland, sheltered from the wind, with a small creek flowing through it, allowing trees to grow. Prairie folks tend to get excited when they see trees. It has a campground and is a popular local destination.
Truthfully, I wasn't all that eager to visit this place; I lived among the big trees and flowing waters of the west coast for decades. I moved to the prairie because I became fascinated by the prairie itself, and its photo potential. But finally I went - last week - with a friend, to camp overnight and hike the short trails that rise up through the aspens and conifers to the flower-filled prairie. Which is where I found these Harebells.
Ideally I would have wanted soft light during the day, clearing at dusk, but of course the reverse occurred. So I didn't get good landscape light, and close up work was a challenge. But then, photography is always about dealing with challenges. I caught these flowers just as the evening sun was disappearing into a cloud bank. For a few moments the light was delicate and beautiful.

A possibility on Parade Day Saturday 2007 of an excursion from Berlin with dampflok 03 1010 failed to materialise having turning up instead worked by 'native' modern power SU45-202 seen arriving at the event.
That year celebrated also the centenary of Wolsztyn depot roundhouse attracting otherwise a fine aray of local and visiting participants over the special weekend.

CN C-630Ms 2007 and 2039 plus SD40 5067 lead a westbound freight at Frank Lane, east of Komoka on CN's Strathroy sub.
The Prairie Line has a pretty darn colorful paint scheme and it looks pretty darn good on this GP30.

OTD, 2007:
On this day, seventeen years ago, I had a day off from work due to the weather, and of course set out to document the those who WERE still at work.
Here, we see UP’s SD60 no. 2224 and an unidentified SD60M rolling east past Topeka’s Calhoun Bluffs on an icy day in northeast Kansas. I had just moved to Kansas, and was shooting with a proverbial Potato, so please cut me some slack on the sharpness here, but it’s such a neat scene!
