A woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Roses have acquired cultural significance in many societies. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses. 20045

As titled, I took this pic @ a foggy morning. The tree line separate the fog which made the scene less dumb. I enhance the contrast and saturation for a dramatic tone.

Former US Navy serial 141016, delivered 31 January 1956. This aircraft spent most of its life as a VIP transport for senior naval personnel. As of January 1984 it had amassed 20,057 flying hours. On 14 February 1985 it was placed in storage at AMARC, later graduating to display on the base's Celebrity Row. In January 2012 it was sold to ARM (Aircraft Restoration and Marketing), Tucson. Altogether this aircraft spent 31 years and 6 months in AMARC and the surrounding yards before flying out from Davis-Monthan AFB on 25 August 2016.

The Great Indian Peninsula Railway (GIP) received 41 locomotives in 1928 based on the 'crododile' type Ce 6/8 from the Swiss Railways. They were built by SLM (Switzerland) and Metropolitan Vickers (England). They are of course for broad gauge (1676 mm) and 1500 volts DC. Since the 1970s they were only used for shunting services, and the last one was taken out of service in 1997.

Returning to Opa-locka from San Juan, Puerto Rico. This was the aircraft's first commercial rotation since 29 November 2023 and I'm not sure if there are any piston-engined Convairs still flying commercially other than the Conquest ones.

NOTE: Conquest Air flew its three C-131s to Tamiami Airport (TMB) at the end of March/early April 2025, as Opa-locka Airport sought to bring the final propliner actvities at the airport to an end.

08/08/1983 06:00 Glasgow QS - Mallaig. Due to the lack of Sunday services on the WHL at the time, the first train of the day on a Monday was often one the the through steam piped Eastfield 20's (20045 and 20085) to give some extra oomph. On this beautiful day in the middle of a Scottish rover we had 20045. Quite why we got off here rather than go to Fort William I don't know - probably to get a bag of crisps for breakfast at Tyndrum garage.
