On 5 February 1905 James Edward Quibell stumbled upon an unbelievably rich and little disturbed tomb. The occupants turned out to be Yuya (Joeja) and Tjuyu (Toeja), father and mother of Queen Tiye (Teje), the principal wife of King Amenophis III of the 18th dynasty. The small tomb was stacked to the ceiling with coffins and funery equipment of the finest quality so far to have come to light in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. The tomb of Tutankhamun was still to be discovered 17 years later in 1922.
Every year (except last) Detroit has a celebration of the automobile. One Saturday in August the celebration happens on the main street that runs down the heart of the city, the event taking place more in the suburbs north of Detroit. People from around the world bring their cherished hot rods and restored cars (and other auto specialties) and crawl up and down this street with onlookers perched on the roadside watching as the vehicles crawl along. The event really disrupts the cites affected but the people do like it. These are some images I took in 2004.

Missabe 414 leads an empty ore train north out of Proctor on a subzero morning. You know it is cold when the heated exhaust forms a steam plume over the units. The high temp for this day in 2004 was -4F.
