Im August 2004 war 99 582 von der Museumsbahn Schönheide zu Gast beim Interessenverband der Zittauer Schmalspurbahnen und zog dort viele Sonderzüge. Am 20.08.2004 fand dabei eine Güterzug-Fotoveranstaltung statt.

Im August 2004 war 99 582 von der Museumsbahn Schönheide zu Gast beim Interessenverband der Zittauer Schmalspurbahnen und zog dort viele Sonderzüge. Am 20.08.2004 fand dabei eine Güterzug-Fotoveranstaltung statt. Leider zeigte sich Petrus an diesem Tag nicht als Eisenbahnfan.
Das Foto zeigt 99 582 mit einem Rollwagenzug ein paar Hundert Meter vor der Einfahrt in den Bahnhof Bertsdorf. Der fotogene Telegrafenmast war schon wenige Monate später verschwunden.

Im Hintergrund ist noch das markannte Werkgebäude an der Bahnhofseinfahrt zu erkennen. Wenig später mußte es wegen Baufälligkeit abgerissen werden.
The Muskrat slipped off its icy shelf and submerged as soon as I arrived in my red rolling Toyota car blind. I cut the engine and, a moment later I noticed two little black eyes and a twitchy nose floating among the cattails. And up it came, with some green cattail shoots. Muskrats are about 95% vegetarian. They are also voracious eaters. I watched this one feeding for about 15 minutes. Mostly nocturnal, they can sometimes be seen at odd times during daylight hours - in this case, early afternoon.
I was happy to get some shots, because my most recent previous Muskrat encounter didn't produce high quality photos. That was in January, just after sunset, when I spotted one beside the road, on a snowbank, no wetland in sight. When I stopped the car, it scurried across the road toward me, and even though I talked to it from my driver's seat - "No, no, bad idea!" - it ducked underneath my car. I got out to look, and it immediately climbed up into my left front wheel well - bad to worse. I had to dislodge it by inching forward until it decided to drop out, and then it ran back to its original spot. Memorable, but not photo-worthy. Although this encounter wasn't as funny, at least I can "share the rat".

CN 2004 leads an empty Minntac train through Wolf as it gets onto the Mountain Iron subdivision for reloading. Once loaded, this train will return to the yard at Two Harbors where the train will get broken down and dumped into the stockpile for when the shipping season begins next month.
