2003 Volvo B7TL chassis with a Transbus ALX400 body and Volvo D7C 7.3 litre 6-cylinder diesel engine at the Bristol Bus Show, Brislington, 28 July 2024. Registration No.WX53UKK (originally WR03YZZ), First Bristol Fleet No.31753. This vehicle was delivered new to First Bristol and stayed in the First West of England fleet until withdrawn in 2021 when it was preserved.
The Volvo B7TL was a low floor double decker designed by Leyland (which had become part of the same VDL group as Volvo and DAF) in Irvine, Scotland and production began there in 1999 as a replacement for the Volvo Olympian. Production was eventually moved to Sweden. In 2004 a Mk.II version appeared. In the UK, the bodies used were the Alexander/Transbus ALX400, the Plaxton President, the East Lancs Vyking and Myllennium Vyking and the Wright Eclipse Gemini. One was fitted with an Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 body. All were engined with the Volvo D7C diesel.
The B7TL was a huge success in the UK, especially in London where 2,014 were sold to various operators. The last were delivered in 2007.
Walter Alexander designed the ALX400 bus body for use with the Dennis Trident 2, Volvo B7TL and DAF DB250 chassis (with Cummins, Volvo or DAF engines), production commencing in 1998. In 2000, Alexander merged with Dennis and Plaxton (which had bought Northern Counties and parts of Duple) to form Transbus and the Alexander ALX400 was renamed the Transbus ALX400.
Alexander and Dennis were now part of the same company, so the ALX400 and Dennis Trident chassis was a common combination, although the Volvo and DAF chassis remained options. In 2004 Transbus was put into administration and was subject to a management buyout, the company becoming Alexander Dennis Ltd (or ADL) and the ALX400 bus was renamed accordingly.
Production ceased in 2006. However, the replacement was the ADL Enviro 400 which was an update of the ALX400, often with the Trident 2 chassis which was still branded as such for a few years! Volvo, Scania or MAN chassis remained options, however.

MISSING ITEMS: Underwear
PERSONAL FUN FACT: I absolutely adore Barbie underwear sets! When I was a little girl, these sorts of lingerie/underwear fashions were a true novelty to own. Admittedly, they were typically only used on the "villains" of my sister and my doll games. I'm not really sure why, but we always got a kick out of making our bad guys scantily clad. This set of undies is super sweet looking though. It really doesn't look risky at all, unlike the leopard set my sister and I found at a flea market growing up (which by the way looks totally awesome on one of my Britney Spears dolls). I think that I might have actually played with this set on my main character when I was younger. In fact, I think that these pastel stripes would have flattered my favorite doll, Sparkling Jasmine, flawlessly. Although Jas wouldn't have fit this set, since she is on a busty 1966 Twist 'n Turn body, whereas this was sewn for a 1999 body. Alternatively though, this would have also looked refreshingly adorable on one of my other personal favorite dolls, Heidi, aka Travel in Style Barbie (who would have actually fit it)!

***My doll is wearing 1991 Fantasy Fashions #781.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: Nothing is more of a dead giveaway that a doll was marketed as a ballerina or dancer than painted legs. The second I came across Miss Teresa in the "$5 Bin Bonanza" of 2017, I took one look at her legs, and knew she was a ballerina. I had seen her recently on eBay too, when I was doing some random doll research. While the painted legs made identifying this doll so easy, they make dressing her quite the chore. Teresa is drop dead gorgeous, so it's a little sad that her wardrobe has to based around those painted tights, unless of course she wears something long enough to cover her legs. This doll looks so very much like my Cool Lookz Trend & Bendy Teresa. It makes sense considering that they are both from 2003. But I think this Teresa might be even prettier. First off, she has the better hair, that doesn't have ratty wires running through it. Secondly, her face paint is in better shape--no chipped eyebrows or rubs. Thirdly, her makeup is less harsh, which is very flattering. Painted legs or regular legs, this Teresa doll is a beauty, who puts most other dolls to shame!

Brother Bear (Aaron Blaise, Robert Walker, 2003) is an American animated musical fantasy comedy-drama produced by Walt Disney Studios.
In a post-ice age Alaska, the local tribes believe all creatures are created through the Great Spirits, who are said to appear in the form of an aurora. Native boy Kenai pursues a bear and kills it, but the Spirits, incensed by this unnecessary death, change Kenai into a bear himself as punishment. In order to be human again, Kenai must travel to a mountain where the Northern lights touch the earth.
In the Chicago Sun-Times, Roger Ebert wrote the film "doesn't have the zowie factor of The Lion King or Finding Nemo, but is sweet rather than exciting. Children and their parents are likely to relate on completely different levels, the adults connecting with the transfer of souls from man to beast, while the kids are excited by the adventure stuff." The film received a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 76th Academy Awards, losing to Pixar's Finding Nemo. The film grossed $250 million against a $46 million budget.

American postcard by Disney Enterprises / Pixar Animation Studios, 2005. Image: Pixar Animation Studios. Film image of Boundin' (Bud Luckey, Roger Gould, 2003). From 'The Art of Pixar: 100 Collectible Postcards, published by Chronicle Books.
Boundin' (Bud Luckey, Roger Gould, 2003) is a cute American computer-animated short film, which was shown in theaters before the feature-length superhero film The Incredibles In this musically narrated story, a dancing lamb loses his confidence along with his ability to dance after his wool is sheared off
In the American South-West, a woolly lamb’s elegant dancing is popular with the other animals. One day the sheep-shearers arrive and shear him for wool. The other animals mock his all-naked and pink state. He becomes depressed and shy and loses the confidence to dance. As the lamb mourns, a cheerful jackalope comes along and shows him how to leap proudly and not to be ashamed. He teaches him the merits of "bounding", not just dancing. Jackalope: "Now sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down. When you find that you're down, well, just look around. You still got a body, good legs, and fine feet, get your head in the right place and hey you're complete!" The lamb is converted and his joy in life is restored. The wool eventually grows back in the winter, only for it to be cut again, but the sheep's confidence is now completely unshaken and he continues to "bound."
Boundin's running time is 4:40 minutes. Writer-director Bud Luckey designed and voiced all the characters, composed the music, and wrote the story. At Pixar, he had worked on every feature film to date and is credited with designing Woody and other characters for Toy Story (1995). According to the director's commentary for The Incredibles, Brad Bird wanted to introduce the animated short by having Rick Dicker, (the superhero relocator from The Incredibles, also voiced by Luckey) enter a room, sit down, and pull out a bottle of "booze" and a banjo. This is the first Pixar short with a theatrical release that has spoken words, they are in rhymes as well. All prior films included only music and sound effects although Bobby McFerrin did an acapella song for Knick Knack. Boundin' was nominated for the Best Animated Short Oscar but lost out to the Australian clay animation Harvey Krumpet (Adam Elliot, 2003).
