Das Paradies für die Kinder

clicky click

I've lost count of the number of days I missed...I've been sick with food poisoning (yum!) for nearly a week and before that, things were a little chaotic for me...

Still, I'm not giving up and I'm content with pacing myself...

Anthony and I have been spending our night watching everything from Murder She Wrote and Dexter to horror movies and 80's commercials. It's been perfect :)

The food poisoning has knocked me off my plans though. I really wanted to do some Halloween makeup for this month but haven't found the energy. I'm hoping as soon as this passes I can get a few in.

**The hand on my mouth is actually a hair-clip I made. I had planned on selling them on Etsy but I think it will be more fun for me personally if I just send them to friends once I have the money. I don't like to deal with selling online if I can help it and Etsy...well, it doesn't feel like my turf. I'm happier buying but maybe before Christmas I'll change my mind**

**I have to admit, I put the hand over my mouth on purpose. It's quite fitting considering I've spent the last 5 or so days vomiting, unable to keep food down...**

**Somehow this photo made Explore twice (Oct. 21st and Oct. 22nd) Very weird haha!**

As I sat at my PC this morning contemplating what I might do for the next couple of ODC challenge topics, I glanced down and realized that the answer was right beside me. I usually have a fruit snack with my coffee for breakfast while I am commenting on images from my Flickr contacts and friends. This morning, that snack was orange slices cut into easy bite-sized pieces.

I really need to re-learn panning skills again for these two.

Initially thinking this was also out on the 109, I had no idea about this service, the somewhat peculiar Spa Lift Shuttle.

Due to the funicular railway out of action, Shoreline operate a bus on certain days up to every 15 minutes in it's place, with a flat fare of just a quid a throw.

19 approaches the Beachcomber Island at the bottom of the cliff with a Spa Lift Replacement Service. Still showing signs of it's First life, this spent the bulk of it's career in Bath, being ousted only last year!!

Well today i was supposed to take my camera to school and get some portraits of my friends but i ended up going home sick, i had a bit of the flu. So i couldnt really get an amazing shot for the day :/

Somewhat of a tradition now! I've managed these duo shots three times in a row in Reading.

The K reg one is a RN Biarritz model, with over 170k on the odometer now. I also saw another RT a few weeks back with the same 1.4 engine on 163k. I suspect these Energy units are very durable if looked after, another reason why I am now feeling very inclined to spend some dosh on the 19. Also, it drives very nicely, as I mentioned before it's actually preferable to a ZX! I never thought I'd say that....

A relatively unknown location in Amsterdam with a wide view over the water in the Eastern Docklands....

Location: Erstkade on Sporenburg next to the in 2018 constructed residential tower Steltloper with the Levantkade on the KNSM Eiland at the other side of the water.

Coordinates: Click on the link to see the exact location on Google Maps:

52°22'28.9"N 4°56'39.8"E

Reason: Exploring the city of Amsterdam by bike and findind this beaufitul view point over the Ersthaven on Sporenburg.

Sporenburg: Sporenburg is an artificial peninsula that was constructed in the 19th century in the Eastern Docklands of Amsterdam. The peninsula owes its name to its use as a shunting yard for the Dutch Railways.

Since the 1990s, the area has been redeveloped into a residential area. The district has some architectural value: the bridges over the Spoorwegbassin and the massive residential building De Sfinx and the slim residential tower De Steltloper.

Albertcomplex: This is the residential builting at the other side of the water.

|The complex is located on the south side of the KNSM island on the Levantkade. That former part of Amsterdam was redesigned in the 1990s under the direction of urban planner Jo Coenen, after the shipping company had left. The contract for the design of the building came from Housing Association Het Oosten. They called in the Belgian architect Bruno Albert.

He came up with a rectangular building along the Levantkade, which is essentially a closed block of six storeys with an inner garden. Albert gave this building block in the middle a circular building block of eight storeys (again with an inner garden), which has an opening to the Levantkade. This opening is closed by means of the Barcelona Square Fence designed by Narcisse Tordoir (which cannot be closed). In the north, the complex has access from the KNSM-Laan, which consists of a staircase by poet/artist Jouke Kleerebezem. The complex is designed in a neoclassical style.
