A 1969 registered BSA Bantam in GPO livery. My first motorcycle was a 1966 second hand Bantam D7. The design was brought from Germany after WW2 as part of war reparations. Originally 125cc, then 150cc, it finished up as 175cc.
D3 BSA Bantam, 150cc. I had the D7 175cc model in the distant past. Often got to look at the engine internals...

The 175cc variant was introduced in 1958 and was the only engine size option available by the time the Bantam was withdrawn.

During World War 2 Ferdinando Innocenti ran a steel tubing factory in the Lambrate district of Milan in northern Italy, producing components for the Italian Air Force and construction. Post-war the factory transferred to producing a Motor Scooter based on the US imported Cushman scooter, of which Lambretta had already been producing many of its parts, during hostilities.
The Lambretta TV175 series 2 was launched in October 1959. It had an engine based on the Li150 series but with an increased engine capacity The front forks were fitted with external shock absorbers. The Rear plate and fork links were redesigned to cope with the extra power. The UK models were fitted with a Veglia 70 mph speedometer face and a dual seat. The revised model 2 was introduced in mid 1960 it had a larger rear light oval horn grille, air filter pipe fixed with screw clamp, stand mudguard fixed with two 8 mm bolts (from October 1960). It was superseded by the Model 3 in February 1961.

This is my first Lambretta in 1986. I had always wanted an all black Lambretta since I was 10 years old and I used to look at one park at the rear of my house from my bedroom window each night as it was always parked under the lampost and looked great. This was to be my dream come true aged 17. I kitted it to 175cc with a 30mm carb and VW Clubman silencer. It went very well for what it was.
