163 - Oblast Samara
I'm a big fan of Russian plates. Relative to the distance to Russia, they can be seen quite often in Leipzig. Every new code pleases me, because mostly the well-known ones from Moscow, Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg appear. From my previous trips to PRG I knew that Russians like to visit Prague and that I have a good chance of discovering new codes here. I was able to bring home at least a handful of them.

Sharpless 163 (LBN 557) is a faint emission nebula in Cassiopeia.
Ha – 12x1800s – 360 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
480 minutes total exposure – 8 hours

#163/365 - Baaaaaa
Voor een poosje is dit de laatste foto uit de DSRC, deze is vandaag met objectieven voor kalibratie naar Rofa in Den Haag gebracht. Dit omdat ongeveer slechts 4 op de 10 foto's écht haarscherp zijn en ik het probleem niet verholpen kreeg via de micro-adjustment in de camera-software (back focus, zelfs op het maximum -20 geen 1/3 focus voor het onderwerp). Al die tijd heb ik gedacht dat ik het probleem was van de onscherpe foto's :-), dat mijn techniek niet deugde. Het valt volgens de medewerker aldaar onder de garantie van Canon en hun tweaken het in de camera en niet in de software. Het zal zo'n 1 á 2 weken in beslag nemen zeiden ze.... dus ik ga de komende dagen (of weken...) met de camera van de mobiele telefoon verder.

This is the last picture from the DSLR for a while, today it is brought with lenses for calibration to Rofa in The Hague because only about 4 in 10 photos are really sharp and I could not resolve the issue using the micro-adjustment in the camera software (back focus, even at the maximum of -20 no 1/3 focus in front of the subject). All this time I thought it was me causing the problem of the unsharp pictures :-), that my technique was bad. According to the staff it can be done under warranty of Canon and they can tweak it in the camera, not through the software. They said it will take 1 to 2 weeks.... so the next few days (or weeks ...) I will make pictures with the camera from the mobile telephone.

i was supposed to be having a blast with friends tonight, but was denied by parents. oh well.
It's rained all day here in south Devon - first heavy stuff we've had in months. So it was a good job that there were some fresh cut flowers just pleading to be 365'd.
