I was lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time in the West Coiuntry in the late 70s and early 80s, before I moved to Somerset. Back then Lodekkas were still around, amongst other intersting types like Bedford VAMs and a Bristol SUS, I'm not sure where or when the UK's first Park and Ride scheme started, but I guess the Dartmouth one must have been one nof the earliest, and probably quite unusual in being operated by Lodekkas.
Although I take my fair share of 'record' shots - typical front three-quarters - I do like to get something a little different if I can, and I was really pleased with the way this picture turned out with the boats in the foreground and pleasant backdrop of the rolling hills of the South Hams.

X463 UKS was purchased by Rossendale Transport Limited circa June 2006 and delivered to Rawtenstall in August 2006, the seating being altered from B43F before entering service as number 163 in autumn 2006

This seems to have been a very strange trip with limited photographic opportunities. CIÉ was about to withdraw the one daily each-way passenger service between Ballina and Limerick - a service so badly timed nobody used it. We took a couple of days before a planned IRRS visit to get what we could, and because of the IRRS visit the dates are known with certainty. So, after an early start from Belfast, we arrived in Athenry to find 163 and a nicely smoking heating van, in the station with the 13.55 Ballina - Limerick.
