On a typical summer afternoon in East Alabama, a Belle Ace leads 137 uphill from the Tallapoosa River into Alexander City.

Another shot from the late Stephen Whittle collection.However l'm not sure if it was taken by him.Most of his shots were taken circa 1987-1990's and this is somewhat earlier,l would say about 1978,and mostly not far from stations or depots as he was still more interested in numbers.He may have been a bit young for what is a splendid shot,or perhaps l am doing him a disservice.Equally it could have been taken by his father,who was also an ethusiast.l'm afraid l didn't actually know Stephen.There was no documentation with the slides,his mother had thrown it out,so all l have to go on is the slide itself.The loco is clearly 45.137 in about 1978 and l would say it is Kibworth at the site of the former station,unless someone knows better.Anyway was definitely worth adding to flickr!

2014.05.17 - On this day I shot a baptism and the lunch was at a fabulous house, with quote a view over a huge garden. Asides from that, I actually couldn't resist taking pictures to something that was much closer - beautiful pink hydrangeas.
