I am beyond excited!
Tonight there is a "virtual" vernissage to look forward to, followed by a Mexican Meal delivered à domicile!
It's our first social engagement and meal cooked by someone else since I can't remember when.

These are my Mum's roses growing in the front garden. I couldn't bear to part the beauties from their stem so instead I stopped by and whispered to them a few sweet nothings in hope that they will grow big and more beautiful : )
I'm in a new phase at the moment with my photos. I've begun to introduce more colour and am just experimenting with it. Thanks all for the kind words and I'm so happy that yesterday's photo made front page. I can never find it myself to take a screen shot :s
My back is much better today (woo) but in typical Bella fashion I managed to fall down the stairs this morning (managed to save the laptop though which I was holding at the time!) and now am suffering from a very sore bottom : ( oh dear..
Hope you're all having a good week so far :)

i'm sorry i've been a bad contact.
but yeah.
there's the lock of hair that was just cut yesterday.
about 12 inches cut off.
it feels so nice having short hair right now and i actually think it's kind of cute on me. it was too short for my liking but i kinda like it now.
i know i'll miss my long hair, but it'll come back.
the change feels good.

Michelle, my 136th stranger, is a living, breathing miracle. My guess is that very few of you recognize her, but many of you already know about her story of survival.
It was her little puppy that first caught my eye. She was attempting to train the puppy to walk with her, but he was having none of it. There was something about the girl that struck me, but I wasn’t quite sure what it was. I stood there debating whether or not to ask her for a portrait. However she was very involved with her dog, and then suddenly a man approached her and greeted her like he knew her well. I figured the scene wasn’t working out, so I was ready to take a pass. A moment later that same man left her and walked up to me. “Do you know who that is?”, he asked me. I shook my head and then he replied, ”She is one of the girls that….” Before he finished his sentence it hit me like a ton of bricks, and I immediately went into action.
Many of you may recall last year's big news story from Cleveland about the three young women who were kidnapped, held prisoner for a decade, and then miraculously escaped early last summer. Michelle is one of those three girls. It was an unimaginable hellish ordeal for those girls. Michelle was the first one to be kidnapped and she was held captive for over eleven years in that house of horrors. The week that the girls escaped, the only thing in the city of Cleveland that surmounted the anger and disgust of this evil crime was the joy and relief that these girls had been found alive. It was one of those rare times when the entire city felt like a close-knit community as everyone’s thoughts, prayers, and support were focused toward the three incredible survivors.
I approached her and began my usual rap. My mind was racing as I spoke my words. I felt a little embarrassed because I am not one to pester people in the public eye. That said, I approached her and was speaking to her like I would any other stranger. Also, it occurred to me that Michelle is kind-of a ‘poster child’ for why you should avoid contact with strangers. Needless to say, I had no idea what her response to my request would be. It turned out that she was very sweet and immediately agreed to the portrait. We were in a cluttered busy area, so I asked her if she would be willing to step away into a little more open area for the shot, and she agreed to that as well. I had my reflector with me, but I did not think to use it because I did not want to bring any more attention to our shoot for the sake of her privacy. She picked up her little dog, and the fact that the puppy posed for me as well was the icing on the cake.

I almost didn't upload today because it took a bad turn. But I'm glad that I got the motivation to shoot something. I've seen a few photos like this floating around on the web but I honestly don't know how to do the correctly. I just hey I kind of know photoshop lets just goof around and see if I can do something okay. Even finding the motivation to do this took a long time. If I was to do this shot again/edit I would probably make myself a little smaller. I'm glad it's the weekend. I didn't even do the photo I told myself that I would do when I got my new camera. I guess I'll just force myself to doit tomorrow.
That cool moment when I got highlighted for last weeks flickrfriday. But I mean I'm sure they made that one for me. The timing could have been more perfect. On top of that I was put into Phlearn's creative inspiration blog for the week which was also really cool because I frequent there site often. If it wasn't for these two things I really don't think I could have pulled myself to shoot today. it just wasn't the day I had hoped for. Such as life, I'll be fine. (Also not diving to deep into detail for a reason)
I'm out.

I was essentially solo at the desk today. It was fine for the morning because the girl training me was still around for me to ask questions but she had a lot of meetings at the end of the day and I got flustered. I’m still learning the ins and outs and what I have the authority to do and not do.
I spent my lunch with my dad yesterday and today. It’s really nice having him close by. And it’s especially nice for my bank account that he’s been saving me food. 😋
I’ve still been kind of bummed. I feel like as time has gone on it’s gotten worse instead of better. Probably because I was pretty shocked in the beginning. And as time passes it’s settling in. And it sucks.
Anywho I couldn’t choose between these two pictures, so enjoy them both.
