Homeless pets will benefit from the hundreds of paws and feet that hit the trail today. The Dumb Friends League hosted its eight annual Wag `n Trail to raise money for the Buddy Center in Castle Rock, Colo.
In addition to the hike, pet lovers had the opportunity to watch flyball demonstrations, meet adoptable pets, win prizes and shop for pet-friendly goods and services.
“We would like to thank all of the participants, donors, sponsors, vendors and volunteers who helped make the Wag `n Trail such a success,” said Bob Rohde,president and CEO for the Dumb Friends League. “It's the community’s support that enables us to offer services for animals and people in Douglas County and beyond.”
The funds raised will help provide shelter and care for as many as 4,500 homeless cats, dogs and other small pet that come to the Dumb Friends League Buddy Center each year. In addition to adopting homeless pets, the center also offers other services, including lost and found, humane education and animal cruelty investigations.

Now, why would I pick such a crazy round number such as 13,000 to celebrate? Well, perhaps because when 10,000 rolled around on 3/31/07, I just wasn't prepared to do anything interesting...then 11,000 came around...then 12...then I figured...since I was born on the 13th of a month, why not do 13!? It is not an unlucky number as far as I'm concerned...and those of you who are getting to know me a bit, know by now that I am not a traditional person!...Heck, look at me...do I look traditional to you? ;P Thought this crazy pic would work well for this "announcement". This is part of my "Fuchsia Couture" series that I took on 6/7/07 when I was all dressed up with no where to go after some plans fell through. I took several hundred pics that night. There is one other in my stream at this time (a few rows down). I will be posting more eventually...there were so many I like..it will be difficult to decide which to post...Next announcement at 20 grand a few months down the road! Thank you to everyone for your comments, faves, & support! ;D This is not a mod. Other than a few minor edits, this is pretty much an unmanipulated photo. The starburst look was achieved with Photobooth light tunnel effect. Gotta love Photobooth!
